Thank you all for your input. Being that I am putting in a wall I think it may be a good idea to build a shelf on the outside to have the pump sitting out of the room. My main thought was heating, but Alan has sealed the deal for me. I am getting an extractor fan installed to come on when ever I turn the lights on as well as using the heat pump fo heating, so I think that should cover the ammonia scent in the room, if not I am keeping a functioning window and I am making the door 4 foot wide. On the note of pumps, whatare some worth looking into? I have seen a couple on Trademe recently around $50, 35W and 50-60L per minute. To run air into roughly 40 maybe more tanks what rating should I be looking at?

Question, If I instal a air pump/air compressor to run filtration is it better to instal inside the room in the warmth or outside the room in the cold part of the garage? I would think in summer it would not make a difference but would it change the temp of the tanks in the winter?

Yeh I have found black bad for Frontosa's but was really good for ost of the other Africans that I have had in the past. Soes white paint have any other effect that you know Ron?

Is there any reason to use a particular colour on the back of a tank? I know black adds depth to a tank, but why other colours? Has anyone tryed anything other than black and blue? I have a green background in my "hulk" tank and I think it brings out the plants a bit.

Nope, but I have heard they are pretty good. I think Veridian are the cheapest shop in town. Running cost will depend what you decide to do with your tank. I would suspect the most exspensive part with be your filter/pump. Fork out a bit more to start with and find a unit that has a lower power consumption (often they cost more to buy).

Depending on the size you may be able to pick up a bit cheap second hand. Once you have the measurements it will help. A mate of mine has a bit of 10mm around 2m long hanging about so you may get lucky with that. Failing that, there is a glazer in Stoke that has a lot of glass at home and plenty of glass shops around and I suspect around the $100 mark is what you will be looking at.

Just be a bit vigilant as after 3 weeks your tank may still be going through a cycle.
