  1. Good point on the stem pants. If you want some polysperma let me know
  2. I normaly just glue a bit in as well.
  3. You wanted to know what gassing off was, when you were asking about lowering your PH.
  4. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=60689&hilit=aging+water
  5. I wouldn't touch PH down, try putting some wood in the tank. And if you gas off your water first you could put some in the barrel as well I guess.
  6. Nelson tap water is pretty high. From a email I got from NCC a few months ago pH 8.2 – 8.6 TDS 110ppm Nitrate <0.066 ppm GH 92 ppm (as calcium carbonate equivalent) Calcium 17 ppm Magnesium 12 ppm Chloride 6.8 ppm Sodium 5.2 ppm
  7. The landscaper by Bunnings is a bit cheaper than the one in Tahuna
  8. Sounds a bit like Sting and the Police
  9. I am binge listening to Motley Crue. I have bought 8 albums from their back catalog in the last week and I can not get enough. I blame it on reading "the dirt" recently ( good book, get into it if you like dirty rock n roll) Currently listening to New Tattoo.
  10. Petmart in Tahuna is not worth going to, unless you want the owner looking down on you. Petmart in Richmond is great, and they have some lovelly knowledgable staff working there. There is a vet in Mot that I have heard is pretty good by several people. I have not been there however. Petfever offer a club discount, which is handy if you shop at LFS
  11. It's time for them to clean up the Indian tail and get a almost clean sweep against them.
  12. There wasnt a diggin out of a hole so this one will do :digH:
  13. I don't know if we can get shrimp in NZ, but someone will be able to confirm this. By pleco do you mean a bristlenose or a big hua pleco? because the bigger version will grow out of your tank in no time. Nelson water is fairly hard.
  14. Its only 5 days all should be fine if you do a water change the day before you go.
  15. I love how you don't do things in halves! Great stuff. :cophot: :gopo:
  16. You would think that, and at one stage I though all was going well and dandy then bang down the hole again. On a side note I normally throw anything dead into the garden or give it to my cat. Will eating them affect her?
  17. i can offer it, but my pay out record is fairly poor at best
  18. I never thought about that, it is possible all the symptoms are the same. I cut a dead one up today and didn't notice anything on the inside ( I guess they parasite is microscopic).
  19. I have a turbo engine that will bolt straight in (3sgte) sitting in my garage if you wanna make it go ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM
  20. Nah everytime I think it is getting better I loose another fish. I have noticed as soon as that get a peppery substrate type thing on the head there will be a dead one in the morning. On a side note there was a couple breeding this morning. I am still keeping up with 50% WC a day with some Epsom salt added. I still have plenty of metro pills left, but they do not seem to be doing much. What other options are there? I don't know if I am going to replace them when all is said and done. I am going through a bit of a change in circumstances so may have to cut all tanks down to minimum which will mean the plan of separating Africans and places into their own tank may not happen. Time will be the decider on this however. I have access to the parent colony of these ones if you are interested in them.
  21. Nice, I will have to take a few pics of my ones again. One of them is growing high and wide the other is staying low and producing lots of pups.
  22. Bums! I have a tank made from them already and the workmanship was fantastic so I wanted to go back there. I will see if I can find someone local now before I look further out.

You also need to take into account different feeding requirments. Whic is something I am currently having to deal with by mixing them.
