do you mind if I ask why no pimafix? its just that I've found it says nothing about cotton mouth on the Furan 2 and I was still losing fish while using it. I have only just started using pimafix it does say it works on cotton mouth so was just wondering what your experience has been?

yup they all good. There was a small amount of ammonia but need to finish the furan 2 cycle (which we have now) and then we can do the water change (first thing monday morning!) Ive just purchased enough furan 2 to do 2 more days and I'm going to run pimafix at the same time i was told that would be ok. we have lost another red tetra now too &c:ry

yea i know camtang that is troubling me too. I am on second day of furan 2 treatment and have noticed that now my sword fish has signs of cotton mouth I only have 2 days left of treatment then Ive been told to do a 7 day treatment with pimafix could I also lower the tank temperature will that help? it sits on 25c now

I have only had this tank for about 3 weeks (it was second hand but I washed very well) and have about 16 neons, 5 bristlenose (varing sizes), and 5 (now) red tetras and 1 female sword fish. Its 190L. I'm now treating it with Furan 2.

I figured it out he had cotton mouth and died through the night but i have read its contagious so I'm going to the pet store today to get some medicine for them. Man I'm not having any luck with these fish already.

I have this red tetra that looks as if it has lost half its back fin the issue is though he has now got a white algae looking substance down one side my question is is he peeling? or is he not moving enough so there for algae settling on him? or is this some sort of disease? I'm very new at tropical fish so please bare with me :-?

um I'm sorry but i cant work out how to load the picture to here but it has little black spots all over it it even has holes in some parts of the foliage and when i was pruning off the bad leaves i noticed a black slimy sludge down in the root system? and i have chopped off a fair bit of the anubias leaves as well but the new growth coming through is looking good because it was hidden under the bigger leaves.

Hi I'm Jemma. I have a 190L corner Juwel tank I have started off slowly with a java fern, anubias and some neons I'm now starting to add a few extra fish slowly. I joined FNZAS because it seemed whenever i asked google a question it would send me here . I do have one problem though the java fern started getting black around the edges so i did most of the things i have read uped my co2 kept the light down to a minimum (maybe 5 hours a day) and now i have cut most of the leaves off will it take off again?
