I hate those red parrot's ugly lil suckers.... strangely enough I love the Algae eaters, great personality if with decent tank mates. also hate the Golden Kuhli's (Pangio anguillaris) impossible to catch and you never see them (Thought mine had dies 6 months ago never saw it even after a full tank teardown/ reset, it survived a full gravel wash, turned up the other day abou 4cm bigger)

  6. I onlt gravel clean the clear areas leaving about 5cm clear space around the plants then if needed just stir up the gravel in between with a finger while holding the siphon abouve them to suck out anything that gets disturbed

  16. if anything I would expect the pH to drop due to the excel being carbon based and the algae die off to be more likely to drop the pH. do you have kids in the room??? I find a lot of strange happenings in fish tanks can be traced back to kids putting tings into the tank (like bars of soap to help mummy clean the tank)

  21. plus octopus require pristine water and are awesome escape artists. Used live sand in my nano mudflat tank and the de-nitrifying bacteria have done their job from day one, had a minor ammonia spike initially but was stable after day 3 and hasn't gone out since really.
