    ID please

Got one of these in a display tank at work, so far im coming up twith Rasbora sumatrana as it's ID Reason im asking is that Rasbora sumatrana (or any of its synonyms) is not actually on the allowable imports list.
  3. lol, he can be a hard man top track down. hows the Clingfish doing???
  4. I once had to maintain the tank in the childrens ward, so I like the cheese factor, I prefer to use the term "Whimsical"
  5. p.s. We should ban sexy chicks from walking near public roads, Almost crash every time.... maybe we could introduce a shapeless dark coloured sack thing that covers them entirely.....
  6. ok, gonnaq start a debate but imo tank 1 there, heaps of attention to detail in the top, forgot to worry about what was in the tank. Tank 2: an exercise in how much plant you can grow in a small area, its ugly, lotsa green on green with no detail, no trimming, nothing. looks like kermit spewed and then miss piggy put it in a tank.
  7. I love stop signs. they distract me so I forgets to stop. and speed signs, I consider them a challenge. seriously 99% of all crashes are caused by idiots. I had a mate who got done for sleeping in his car underneath a "don't drive while tired" billboard, supposedly it was a "no stopping zone
  8. while trying to ID a plant I have I stumbled upon Cryptocoryne "Nuri" that is a stunner, do we have it or similar in NZ???
  9. my amazing photography skills continue to astound people, so i can't be bothered posting pics until the plants start up properly, added today, 1 x Ambulia stem (bound to multiply) (trimmed from a tank) 5x Hygrophilla polysperma stems (Trimmed from a pond plant) 1 x Crypt (I think Wendtii, long narrow reddish leaves with wavey outline) off shoot from another tanks plant 3 x Twisted Val (unwanted extra in a tank) some green Lud, 2 stems, currently floating to convert from emersed grown, (found in my local creek) and 6 happy little Leopard fish younguns (about 1cm long each, feeding and staring at me already)
  10. I superglued a Warhammer figurine to my head once during my geek phase. lucky I had a very nice (and quiet) big sister with acetone....
  11. like to see them under normal lighting
  12. not certain but im pretty sure the TGA ones all got put down, never heard of them releasing cats in the "wild", thats kinda against their ideals. isn't their purpose to make sure they have good homes???
  13. what about a long river bed style tank, extremely high current with a pool area at the end, running hill stream loaches and danios etc..... why the "Larger fish" theme???
  14. why do I get the feeling we will hear about a dedicated aquarist suffocating in his well insulated room
  15. try the back of the Tauranga race course, last hunt there I think netted over 100 strays/ferals, the do form mass groups, i guess colonies is as good a name as any
  16. im certain that 3rd one is straight out of Amano's Nature Aquarium book
  17. CO poisoning sounds like a rather pleasant way to go, rather that than a drunk dude with a rifle....
  18. completely forgot my plants tonight, so here is some pics to keep you happy, have one small piece of drift wood im considering adding a bit of anubius to but not 100% sure i can fit atm (btw they are very low quality taken with my $50 underwater video camera) Base Scape best photo i could get to show my big girls size (so out of focus but she is about as long as my finger) Tannins for Drift wood im sinking atm, but give you a rough idea of how good my girl is (BTW only about 1/3 of the tank, the rest is as stocked, they are all hiding in the plants I pushed aside)
  19. tanks are all undergravels so LOTS of circulation, got a fan running during daylight hours and all tanks open top except bottom ones.
  20. like that???, Lilaeopsis braziliensis. really needs high lighting just out of interest there is Also Lilaeopsis Novozealandae, which (as the name suggests) is a NZ native, so would kinda have a theme for your tank
  21. i've always called the espei's "Lambchop Harlequins" surprised me when I saw "gold"
  22. inside tanks: 23-24 degrees at top, 22-23 degrees in middle, bottom 21-22 degrees, outside pond, full sun 27, part shade 24, large amount of shade 21
  23. plus feeding up the girls will increase the number of eggs dropped, try live mozzie larvae and whiteworms
