  1. I seriously find that hard to believe dude, would take a lot longer than 1 fish lifetime for them to evolve that much to reduce the stomach or intestines till they are virtually non-existant. Not to mention only living on the nutrients absorbed through their skin and somehow miraculously surviving.
  2. 3 of my tanks have apistos in them and the salt doesn't seem to bother any of them.
  3. That is the method I use Caryl and it works.
  4. I would think the level of the glass separator at the back would be slightly lower than the rest of the glass to allow water to flow over the top like an overflow system on a sump filtered tank?
  5. This is just making me want to build a bigger tank now so I can have an aro with my discus!
  6. Don't dose with copper, raising the temp to 31c and adding some salt usually does it for me.
  7. I would definitely move them into their own tank mate, oscars can get pretty territorial while breeding. I remember seeing a video of a guy trying to remove his oscar eggs to artificially hatch them and the oscars attacked him :slfg:
  8. Finally finished! Man that was a mission, tank looks bare as now
  9. :slfg: nice wood man, and good cheap idea too.
  10. Hmmm, definitely sounds like a phosphate issue with all the algae. Just wondering if the tank gets any direct sun light on it at all through the day? If it does turn out to be a phosphate issue from the water supply there are quite a few ways to combat it, cheapest being just collect rain water for your tank - pretty easy to set up and even up north I am pretty sure there is enough rainfall to be able to collect enough to supply your tank with all the water it needs for water changes.
  11. Looking good Cam, I just trimmed some ambulia for you and I will send it tomorrow, would you like a few stems of rotala rotundifolia as well?
  12. Missing 5 neons and a male apistogramma trifasciata &c:ry
  13. Still in the process of having the first major prune of my planted tank, so far taken 7 hours and will probably still be going at midnight!
  14. They're new plant pups mate, that's how indian fern reproduces.
  15. Not regularly no, looking at buying a new car from there but not sure when I will be up there next.
  16. I will take 8 if you are willing to ship them?
  17. I don't think they will stop any time soon sorry to say James, once they start breeding they will do it quite regularly if the tank conditions suit them. On another note I am looking for 6-8 sterbais if you would sell me some once the young are older enough to sell.
  18. Just a heads up Dave, I am using the same sort of lighting on a smaller tank and they don't do a great job of penetrating to the bottom which is 60cm, I think you might have some problems trying to grow a couple of the plants you want as they really need more light. You should really consider going metal halide, thats what I am going to do after xmas.
  19. Good to see you got a cat from the SPCA Sophia, if only more people were like you!
  20. You ever tried to grow a big bushy needle leaf or windelov java fern? I recently bought a huge needle leaf plant that has probably around 250 leafs and it has been growing for years to get to that size.
  21. Not really able to grow on if your impatient like me and don't want to wait years for java ferns and anubias to grow.
  22. I remember looking at these awhile ago, I don't think you will have much luck finding one as they haven't been bred commercially so all specimens available are wild caught which means demand overseas will probably mean we will never see them here. Don't quote me though I may be wrong.
