You might have a problem with the tank being 700 tall, I use 4 54watt T5HO on a 600 tall tank and they don't really cut the mustard. Ambulia and cobomba will probably grow quite "leggy" with that light but the crypts/java ferns should be alright.
Thanks, had to put 12 baby blue rams in with the pair of trifasciata to grow out a bit so won't be raising the fry from the 1st spawn. Hopefully they spawn again once I remove the rams.
Also the fish that I have are the siblings of his ones, look at the difference between colours there. I think substrate and tank decor play a huge part in their colouring.
None of these fish have probably ever been in the wild though so their bodies would not know what it is like to have the temperature drops found in nature, that is what I would be worried about.
From what I have been reading on Apistogramma.com Joe they reckon that the "super reds" as they get older their lighter colouring turns darker and it all depends on what you feed them. Try feeding yours some colour enhancing food instead of just live food and see the results for yourself.
Also I didn't see anything wrong with him using those photos on his auction as he did state that it is a rough idea of what they should turn out like. No worse then what I see everyday on there mate.
