  1. Oak leaves dude and I didn't notice any difference other than the fish liked using them as cover.
  2. F15hguy 1st you said "If I remember correctly yada yada yada..." then you claim you sold him all of these cichlids? Wouldn't that mean you do remember or do you just always have a story for everything :slfg:
  3. When I am raising fry I always do daily water changes when I can, it does seem to make a difference on growth rate.
  4. Ashes - Five Finger Death Punch Next Metallica albums not due out till early 2014 Cam.
  5. Just wondering if the legal size limit applies if you are taking fish home to keep them in an aquarium?
  6. I use the JBL algae wafers and they seem to last alright for around 3 hours @ 29c.
  7. I got up this morning and ran around the block 4 times! Then I got tired and put it back in the toybox.
  8. Cool, cheers spoon. I was actually going to ask if it is still ok to keep using the glass lids on the top of the tank, don't really want to have it open as I have a 3 year old demon spawn running around the house.
  9. Expensive initially but cheaper than diy long term. It's pretty straight forward - you need; co2 cylinder or soda stream cylinder - anywhere from $20 - $400 co2 regulator - $65 - $120 brand new co2 grade tubing - around $10 bubble counter/check valve - $15 preferably glass diffuser - $20ish co2 drop checker - $18 if you do use a soda stream bottle also you will need an adapter for the regulator which I think costs around $35 - $40? Valray from trademe sells everything there except the cylinders, these are more specialist items and my advice is to search around and see what you can get 2nd hand. I use pressurized and diy co2 and both have their upsides, I would never use diy co2 on any tank smaller than yours now though as it just produces enough co2 for my 54ltr tank - you can supply more if you setup multiple bottles though.
  10. Will you be doing diy co2 or pressurized?
  11. "Others have sold teenage Leopard Fish Pair for $150 and $151 per pair on trade me. I think mine are as big if not biger "

  13. If it is too much at least I will have them on hand for when I do eventually try my hand at a reef tank I guess, would just like to have a go at some carpeting plants like glosso or HC.
  14. Maybe some "Orange Flash" in the genes somehow?
  15. Yeah, that's what I am thinking as well. Bugger. Kind of weird it doesn't have any black markings on its fins though.
  16. Nope for planted FW tank, its 60cm deep though and T5HO's just aren't doing the job of penetrating to the bottom.
  17. I just bought some metal halides for my tank and was wondering if anyone here has ever had any experience with the dupla brand of lighting? The unit is brand new but I will be buying new bulbs for it and was wondering if anyone knows what type of bulbs it takes? Will rs7 double ended bulbs work as they are really cheap on fishstreet compared to locally. It is a Dupla Electra Combi 2 x 150 Watt MH + 2 x 24 Watt PL just got to drive to Dunedin to pick it up now :happy1: Also this should be enough lighting for my 450ltr tank now right?
