  1. Because roundabouts aren't changing give way to your right still I assume
  2. Mmm does this affect giveways at roundabouts?
  3. Eh. What about on tropical marines? :digH: I don't know much about marines but I'd assume it'd be similar to tropical freshwater for heating? Proving your not running metal halides, or any other massive heat sources (with the exception of the heater) and a room temperature lower than the tank temperature why would it over heat?
  4. I was thinking that a 20x turnover pump would push 1L over per second in a 180L tank. So it may not if it sticks to the glass (may not splash) but in a tall tank it could? :dunno: But it could be a good idea to have a dip in the bit that catches the water from the tank (like waterfalls create a dip kind of thing)?
  5. If your tanks not completely level it's going to be more water on inside than the other. Good idea though they had water features like that in Sinagpore, people with brooms out there early morning cleaning up algae and people trimming the grass... It would be an awesome tank though. Something to put in your wall maybe : Edit: Also maybe the splash when it goes from tank to the sump? Also if it's saltwater won't you have a lot of evaporation due to a high amount of surface area and a volume? Edit: Another thought, wouldn't it have an unsteady temperature? As as it slides down the wall of the tank it will be cooled? Fixed by having two heaters one in tank where the water flows in and one in the sump... Just thinking about this...

    The What's Up? thread.

Walking the Tongariro crossing on Saturday... Nothing like getting up at 6:30am to go freeze on a 6 hour walk (or a 1 hour jog ) to enjoy some scenery. To make it even better I have a English essay on Macbeth due on Monday :nilly:
  7. I had danios in a bucket when going from my original tank (130L?) to the second tank and noticed that one had jumped out while shifting and cleaning. Was fine  Also Squirtle went walk abouts outside for 3 days in the rain during winter (lucky it was during the holidays so I could look for him) and he's fine Moral of the story: always keep a close eye on the pets.
  8. Oh just a heads up, remember to take out a majority (99.9%) of the copper because some fish like loaches are sensitive to copper
  9. It's 580 high with about 300mm of water, so it is correct? (I was told to only use the values of the waterh height)

    New hardscape

Compensate and get two tanks? :slfg: :digH:
  11. ( :smot: is there something wrong with the online glass thickness calculator? I've stuck in my values of my tank: 1700 length and 300 depth and 10mm glass and it's got a safety factor of 19?!)

One one the left looks better IMO  :spop:
  13. +1 :dunno: seems a little thin to the 10mm. I have 6mm fully braced on my 4' too, plus it's what they sellin shops...
  14. No chance of using a diffuser in front of the output :dunno: probably cheap than an inline. Just have your output facing downwards slightly so the bubbles spend long int the water.
  15. I got some off Waterplantz on trademe, was quite a lot for $5! But it did look like lots in a little tank
  16. Hi all Thanks, yeah they do have those little flowers that Supasi was pointing out. Thanks for the IDs everyone!
  17. Providing you have enough flow it should distribute the CO2. Unsure about filter warranty, how long and what type of filters are they?
  18. Maybe it'd be a good idea to get the tank made a little bit smaller than the width and length and then you can insulate it better? Sound like a good idea, and that wall looks solid brick, our chimney which was taken out (and is now where the turtle tank is  ) was 6 tonnes of brick...
  19. A little bit, it's where he sleeps under though. Probably eats as much as it grows. :slfg: Yeah, he's moving the cabinets and tv around so he can watch animal planet :slfg:

:nilly: not for another few years atleast I'm looking forward to uni, except for the bit about being a freezing student in Dunedin, but mum will be happy because she gets to look after the turtle tank. :rotf: :digH: . :sml2:

Haha except this chemistry teacher. My mate dropped chem for media studies like after a week and she gives him the evils everytime he walks past... I don't mind tests, just studying for 4 at once is a little bit difficult. Plus everyone like :nilly: CREDITS

What's with all the tests? Chemistry, physics, biology (probably the best one out them all because we got a field trip! :happy2: ) accounting and a calculus test! Jeez you think they could organize it so they don't all have tests at the same time :nilly: :nilly:
  23. [joking]So if I chucked some chemicals (or minerals and other consumables consumed by fish) in the water + had a DSB I could get away with no water changes ? :sml1: sorry :smot: [/joking] But on another note, if you ran a DSB in a sump COULD it reduce the amount of water changes you would have to do? Providing you did a water change every week and a half or so, to keep mineral levels up and other beneficial things that are added when a water change is done.
  24. So with a DSB I can get away with not doing water changes? :slfg: :digH: (just kidding)
