  1. There are a few kaka abound in these parts as well, real nice birds to see around.
  2. Eastern rosella are quite common around here.
  3. Dr A, I've seen then almost that blue and redish/brown. What temp is the betta at? shrimp dont like over 26 deg and will have to be acclimatized slowly from the probably chilly 10-12deg of the stream. sup42, you can catch them during the day with a sturdy net pulled through weeds/grass/cress etc in the stream but they are easy to see at night as their eyes glow in the torch light
  4. Looks like all the rock work is the same, just a bit adder to the hill? and much better growth and colour on the plants
  5. If you are paying $200 from a local shop thet that is some $45 more that what I have found the price in NZ to be from a Bricks & Mortar shop. So $130 with no GST imported or $155 inc GST, not too bad a comparison, but should be a little cheaper as they should have better bulk shipping.
  6. have toy tried photrec, has never let me down even on dud usbkeys/SD cards etc. how long did it take to format the drive? a few secs or an hour? have you written data to the disk after it was formatted? If you were closer I would suggest bringing it around...
  7. buying from HFF is only just over 1c/g more than importing it from the US without the risks
  8. they turned their noses up at most of them, getting too lazy to chase live food :sml1:, knew that there would be easier food around soon enough
  9. JaSa, there were 3 in the bag of guppies that I picked up a few weeks ago, kept them separate along with the blond/gold guppies. Looks like there was 1 male and 2 females :bounce:

    Table Salt

I use table salt if I cant be bothered to go down to Bin-Inn to buy bulk rock salt. The skeptical aquarist (I think) has a debunk on table salt, and there was a thread on here about it as well
  11. Alan do you have a reference for that, just looked and cant find one. There are some very intelligent people with-in MPI and the government.
  12. congratulations How on earth can wii fit class a size 12 as obese
  13. a 1200x600x600 is a nice sized tank but I would say that it is on the larger end of medium tanks for most people other than 'freaks'. another popular mid sized tank would be 3ft x 18in x18in (~900 x 450 x 450) that would give you about 180L to play with edited for wrong length
  14. I would go with 2 x cf1200 as well. I have a single cf1200 in my 1200x600x600 and I find that it struggles a little, but it was pushing water through a chiller as well.
  15. Thanks, that makes sense that if you had smuggled a morph in you wouldn't want MPI to know...
  16. photorec will recover most files even after a format, as long as it isn't a windows 'full format' It's not too hard to use but you have to follow the instructions, dont know if there is a mac version but there should be as there are linux/unix versions Edit: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec
  17. pass on the iTunes but photorec will work wonders on recovering the photos (and probably even the music) IF you haven't written data to the drive* * if you have written data to the drive some may still be recoverable
  18. don't over drive them, and keep them cool. The hotter they run the more they will draw, the more they draw the hotter they run... ending up with short lived LEDs
  19. Can I ask why MPI (ex maf) would care about morphs if they don't care about them being in the country in the first place, of are they on shaky ground in their legal status?
  20. I had mine pushing into the canister, mostly as it was the easiest to plumb it that way
  21. My first thoughts on seeing it was a young swamp lily, have one in one of my tanks.
  22. Hi Tim I'm about to set up a local marine in the next few months, just need to get some nice dead/live rock and move the freshwater fish back into their 430L tank when I have made a new 3D background for it. I'll probably collect NSW from out at Raglan, and have 4 x 60 L plastic barrels to collect and store it in. Would be good to see another new member in the club.
  23. I do in my chiller, keeps the temp within 1/2 a deg often it wont move more than .1 or .2 of a deg in the tank. Be careful that the temp at the controller is not too different to beside the heaters, or are they all in the sump? also you now have a single point of failure where before you had 4? independent systems that it wouldn't really matter if one failed.
