also think about the weight of substrate/rocks that will be weighing on the bottom but not pressing on the sides (much).
at a guess I would say that my 430L had 50 to 75kg of sand and rocks
Last year I had 3 or 4 that came into berry in the bug tank but I never had any larvae. I have one in berry at the moment with the gold guppies, I hope to have the saltwater tank setup before they vanish...
You might have to find a new home for the goby.
there was a case not that long ago of a petfood manufacturer using eels, I believe they were stopped as eels could only be used for human consumption. Most of the statutes/laws/whatever all say fish/inverts
I believe that no freshwater fish/invert. can be collected for anything other than human consumption - well they are not allowed to be sold as petfood anyway.
The collector wont be allowed to collect more than 50 unless the have applied under the QMS, and that 50 would only be for personal use.
The switch is a little float switch and worked fine, I even managed to get it at the right level first time os that the water is above the level of the bottom edge of the hood
I have just moved the 430L back inside after having the carpets done the other month so I thought is was a good time to setup a auto shutoff for when filling the back up during a w/c
setup:
12v solenoid
1/2 inch garden hose (tap fitting)
20mm hansen female/female 90deg
20mm hansen male/barb
450mm of 20mm black alkathene (too many holes, only really needed them in the last 100-150mm)
15mm male bung

Had the filter apart today to clean the top sponge and filter wool and decided I'd have a look at how dirty the other two baskets were - they haven't been out of the filter since about the beginning/middle of winter at a guess...

There was also about 1/2 an inch of crud under the bioballs in the bottom of the canister - that I managed to drop on the concrete drive when cleaning it out, just broke one of the feet luckily.
I suggested a riparium for the safety factor of the glass at that high, knowing that lowering the water would increase the safety factor.
Could always just grow bromids?
I would love some as well. I wonder if it is a native one or one of the imported (illeagly) ones. I have seen triops for sale in 'Bees & Buttercups', imported from the US - told the shop, probably should have told MaF.
I agree that there is some good stuff around, mostly along the lines of what Carlos has said but I would add Edit: stealing sheep, the early white stripes, the two gallants etc
