  1. I have an aquaone pump (106-maxi 3200l/h) running in-line on my hillstream loach tank, and was running inline on my 430l native tank before that. It did take a bit to get the inlet airtight though, poor molding.
  2. I would think that the 5m+ of pipe work, 1/2 inch holes and the I guess the 2 x 1/2" 90deg bends will be the limiting factor for the pump.
  3. ... I was talking about water of this origin, not 'real' distilled water
  4. I have heard of it killing marine inverts/fish, I would guess from the copper used
  5. yep, your canister filter will be running fine - as long as it has ho air in it
  6. correct, flawed test SEM ELISA test from what I have heard. or rather they are looking for a breakdown product of Nitrofuran and other furans, and it looks like this breakdown product (SEM) can occur naturally
  7. Furans are on the list of drugs that are now being tested for in food products at border control and there are a few false positives showing up, a ban on furan* could be on the cards as then NZ can easier say that it is a false positive. There have already be murmurs about this in the beekeeping world. Just a heads up
  8. Don't have any experiences with cichlids, but if I was to do a cichlid setup I think I would go SA and these:
  9. You should talk to henward about your gripes with lighting :digH:
  10. you wont feel under about 20+v unless you have a cut/etc I has some fish act more or less the same with symptoms with a powerhead leaking some 15v, could just feel it through a pull on a fingernail. You will probably beable to pick up some voltage just through/from induction
  11. Have had to tear down the 430L tank this weekend, getting new carpet in just over a weeks time. Anyway this gave me a chance to catch and measure him/her and the other kokopu. Homer (about 110mm when caught early last spring): 185mm, 101g Smallest one (about 85-90mm when caught late spring last year): 178mm, 82g Med one* (about 90mm when caught at the same time as Homer): 182mm, 90g Large one (about 120-125mm** when caught late spring last year): 203mm, 122g * This one will be moved on to a new home sometime in a 5ft tank ** Bigger than I first thought but adapted well none the less
  12. Keep seeing it listed every month or so, would fit well in my computer room... what is the reserve?
  13. Just emptied my 430L and move the fish to their new temp home, the giant kokopu look a little crowded in the 170L and the torrent fish don't seem to like their new home :dunno: Good luck with your tank moving. I think I would get hold of a few 50+L fish bins from the warehouse or the like.
  14. What I'm planning on doing (over the next week or so) is to move all the fish from the 430L into a ~170L and a 1/2 wine cask on the porch and plumb them together, this is the cold water tank so I'm lucky there. then move the 3 x 2ft and the nano tanks out to the shed, two of these are heated, the other two are cold. I'll have to leave room in the shed for the bookshelves, lounge suite, computer desks, bedroom things... then when the carpet is dome move every thing back...
  15. some routers do this easy (if it will run dd-wrt firmware it is easy), some you will need to fint the wifi bridge settings ant turn this on, some you can turn wifi bridging on via telnet/ssh, other routers will just not play nice at all (I had a Thompson that would randomly decide to work well or drop 30-50% of packets) Good luck
  16. We are getting new carpet done at the end of the month, only 5 tanks to move and 600L of water
  17. or advertising a new line of protein drinks :digH:
  18. If you turned the blender on the fish would die quite fast compared to your average whitebait fritter
  19. how would a Reef Octopus BH300 Dual Pump Hang on Back skimmer go? I guess I could always run it on a sump if/when one is set up.
  20. Looking at LED for lighting, would something like this be ok? "(72) White & (6) Blue .06 W LEDs" http://www.trademe.co.nz/pets-animals/fish/lights-lamps/auction-501704655.htm
  21. I don.t know, but you ended up here anyway...
