I managed to get water in to the waterproof camera on the second try, has corroded the micro usb plug and god knows what else :an!gry I just might take them out and place them in to the 2ft native tank and move those fish into the 400l have 3 weeks to worry about it...

I've just had, last night, the first Cran's bully spawn of the spring. I have a poor out of focus, not well lined up video that I'll upload if anyone wants to see. The problem is that they have decided to spawn in the darkest part of the tank right in the back corner. had to place the camera without being able to see the screen well and 1/2 buried in the sand*. This is the same male that tried to raise 3 spawns last spring so he must be doing something right. *now the waterproof latch is full of sand and is tight to open/close

Most treatments will be toxic to the mussel, remove before treatment. Do a search for the recent thread about our native mussel and why they probably shouldn't be sold or kept

it is just a search string on your user name in the database, so no you cant delete them

Mr Homer - the giant kokopu (the story so far): When I caught this guy (see this thread: viewtopic.php?f=41&t=55536) he had over 1/2 his tail bitten off. The tail is still growing well and is now almost complete. When caught he was about 100 - 110mm, only about the length of the 1 year old inanga in the tank with him although he was much deeper and had more girth. In the last 8 months he has really packed on the weight and length/girth. I would now estimate his length to be about 180-190mm. Sewellia lineolata is a very pretty looking fish as are Pseudogastromyzon cheni I think my first two are G. scitulus, but as you say they look to have longer blue stripes then the broken blue in most of the photos at loaches.com or seriouslyfish.com. And yes it is easy to spend ages watching them fight over a rock. I have put one of the smallest torrentfish in there with them, it is only just a little bigger, and it has the same complex - "this rock is mine". Tank is set at 21 atm so shouldn't be too hot for the torrentfish, but i might drop that down to 19 yet.

I've only seen Gastromyzon scitulus at world of water and both Gastromyzon scitulus and Beaufortia kweichowensis (?) at Goldfish bowl Sophia: The best ID is either here http://www.loaches.com/species-index/pictorial-species-search-index/sucker-bodied-hillstreams or http://www.seriouslyfish.com/classification/balitoridae/. The latter is a bit harder to find fish on but probably has better info in some of them. Zev, what species have you got?

There is a bit of info on here if you do a search, but they need to be kept in a tank by themselves as they will nip/kill just about anything from what I hear.

I like my BBA, but then it's not in a planted tank.

I managed to catch the offending inanga just a few min a go and have it in a 20l bucket atm that it is activly trying to jump out of, might hust be too stressfull in there did a ~50% w/c today and will keep up the salt. Godly3vil, I normally have a kg or two of high quality aquarium tonic salt on hand, I buy this from the local bininn as 'rocksalt' but this time it is just table salt

They all sleep under the biggest bit of driftwood, that is right at the back of the tank under another bit of twisty wood For now I'm just treating the whole tank with salt, 2kg went in over the last 12h for a dosage rate of between 5 and 6g/l. Will see how things go.

I would be more worried about increasing lightning :digH:

Where I normally get them there is no real transition from fresh to salt, it is just a coastal stream the flows across open sand down the beach till it finds the surf. There might be a little salt from wind blown spray and sand but I doubt that it is much. This leads me to believe that it might be doable?

Back on topic... I keep what is in my sig below plus white cloud mountain minnows, sterbai cory, and two species of hillstream loach. Edited spelling, thanks zev :sage:

After loosing one of my biggest inanga to some unknown lump it now looks like another of the big 2 yr olds has come down with a columnaris infection. I doubt I'll be able to catch it in the big tank with all the driftwood and caves. photos to come if I can...

I have collected females in berry that have survived for a good while, not had any young survive though.

I just use a handfull (or two) of crushed limestone in my filter on the 400l native, has been keeping the pH at about 7... /me goes to test out of interest Edit just tested at about pH6.8 - 7
