That is a remarkable colour form, a shame that they are almost impossible for the home aquarist to breed

I have a sheet of pellet liner (goes between the pellet and bags/boxes etc). It's made of recycled plastic and is mottled in colour, comes in 1200x1000 I think. Looks darker in real life, excuse the uncleaned back wall :sick:

I'll go and grab one of the 3.5 kva generators from work, and I have a 600w UPS and a 1.2 kw inverter that I could always run off the car. If I had a lot of money in stock (maybe marine) I would think about buying a cheep 2 - 2.5 kva generator, can be found for under $500

Update on the fish - everyone else is still alive as far as I can tell and looking OK. Temp is slowly climbing back up, now at 13.5.

As Seachem Clarity is a flocculating it needs something to act on. I have seen the same problem in pools where too much flocculating agent is added. The quickest way to fix an overdose of flocculating is to add dirt :digH:

if all that fails check the impeller shaft.

I think it was the controller as after a power cycle it read the correct temp. I'm sure the temp was 18.2 last night when I fed them One of the fish was the CAE so I suspect that they don't like temps that cold, the mullet as a warmer water fish, and for the others I suspect that it was the quick drop in temp - 15 deg in about 15 hours. Have had a 150w heater in there since lunchtime and the temp has lifted to ~9.5 deg. Have taken it out now and will let the temp continue more slowly. Everything else is looking better now, but will have to watch for disease in the next week or two.

Came home for lunch to day to find that the native tank was covered in condensation, so I checked the temp thinking it might be down to 15 deg. Got s shock when I saw 4 deg, so checked with another and 4.0 deg. Temp on the chiller still read 19 and the chiller was running full steam I have lost two fish so far, one smelt (the others are looking very stressed) and the troublesome algae eater that was re-homed. I hope that the bottom dwellers will be ok as they are hardly breathing - I guess that the extra warmth from the midwater fish swiming has helped the kokopu and smelt but they still looked stressed...

I would stick with the crushed limestone/shell/coral etc should work well enough.

I was thinking liquid rubber for the lining and the stock will be kokopu and bullies (maybe some smelt and inanga). The step down is two fold. Firstly to create a stream like environment and secondly to house the chiller. The chiller for the native tank inside sits where the hole is at the moment - out side. There would be wavemakers at the shallow end as well as the filter in-flow and I think I would plant the back of the shallow end with sedges etc.

When I say 30% I really mean I stick the siphon in and start it, when I remember or I hear the wavemaker sucking air I take it out and re-fill.

I could take them as well if there aren't too many, I'm thinking of making an outside timber tank/small pond for the giants so should have room.
