I was at a fish store a few months back and saw what I was sure was a male in the "female fighter tank". Bought it, now I have a nice white body blue finned plakat male :sml2:

I'm still going with male. Doesn't seem round enough to be a female. Its not like the other female hypans I have seen, but I may be wrong :smln: You'll have to wait till one of the experts sees those updated photos

Or you can turn your head to the side, or is it not top down enough for you?

We don't have many things pure in NZ.

Down to 3. Just changed the filter from a 2000lph to a 1000lph as the current looked a bit too much for the pleco's. Hopefully everything else in the tank is fine. :dunno:

They were kicked out of the cave today. Seen a good 30+ Not bad for what I think is the males first spawn! Don't bristlenose usually kick the fry out after 4 weeks from the spawn?

It depends. My L104 male keeps letting a female into the cave but never gets any eggs :yaw2: One of my heckillii is dieing and I don't know why :-? I guess I'll have to keep searching the net for some answers :digH: I left the heater unplugged in one of my tanks and it dropped to 18 degrees :facepalm: But the majority of people don't use them like that :dunno: Its all about context really

I think I got them on tuesday, so today is their 5th day. The other three seem really happy They are stunning fish, I got them from David R

I got four Heckilii earlier in the week and introduced them to my tank properly etc etc. Within a few hours they were eating and have settled in really well. Last night there was no signs of any of them being sick. This morning when I turned on the lights I find one upsidedown between a rock and the glass (not stuck, just upsidedown). I removed the rocks and helped him upright only for him to fall over again. He's breathing really heavily and he has lost almost all color. I've added a small amount of salt and I'm wondering what else I could do, or what could be wrong? There has been regular water changes on the tank Thanks

Your best chance is to get a cave suited for breeding. You can use pvc, bamboo, can make them out of slate/tile.

Do you have any caves for him to breed in?

Maybe a large school of lemon tetras?

They usually need some sort of cave to breed in. What sort of hiding spots have you got? The red spot is also just a red spot. I've had them on my GBA before

Yusss :happy1: This will be my first bristlenose breeding and will be my first registered breeding too haha I managed to get my cherry barbs to spawn over night also but the eggs have fungused over. And my dragon fight has fry too :nilly:
