  1. That is who we came up with too. Also James McAvoy and Peter Boyle but Tom is most likely. We will let you know after quiz!
  2. Anyone know of a famous person who originally wanted to be a catholic priest? That is a clue for our Quiz Night tonight. I am assuming it is a singer or actor but could be wrong. Does it ring a bell for anyone?

Sitting at the computer with the smell of Beef Stroganof wafting through the house from the slow cooker. I should have known better than to use it on a day I am at home
  4. Looking forward to further pics as the tank develops. Also, I suggest the sofa is moved so it is in front and facing the tank

    Hardscape rules

I collect my driftwood from the beach by river mouths. The west coast is particularly good for this. Since mine are already waterlogged I just give them a scrub, rinse then add them to the tank.
  6. Two of them actually Sophia. RE-DO! :slfg: Once it establishes itself and more grows around those rocks they will look more 'as one'.
  7. Need? Being low tech, I would have thought nothing. I have never used fancy substrates, fertiliser, specialised lights or anything and have an abundance of plant growth. Go for the basic plants the lfs label as "bunch plants" and you should be fine. Also make sure your gravel is deep enough for the plant roots to establish well. I suggest 5cm or more. Anything red needs stronger light, although my red rotala is going nuts again under very old plain daylight fluorescents

I am babysitting my dad as he was stupid enough to go out to load the car with stuff when it was -4 and was then surprised to have a major angina attack  He has used his angina spray 2x and it is settling but I am here to make sure he survives the morning until mum gets home again. We will sit in the sun together and read now I have read the forums 8)
  9. I hope someone read my above post and actioned it accordingly :happy2:
  10. Then it was obviously meant to be!
  11. When the vet has to do the deed you will be by Bruce's side and he will know you are doing it for him.
  12. That isn't the original Basil Brush either. The replacement was nowhere near as good as the original who was really a sneaky subversive little fox. I am starting to wonder who the bully is around here Stella! :slfg:
  13. No need to buy a tank yet either. Float him in a plastic container in the main tank (2L ice cream containers work well) and make sure you keep up the water changes.
  14. I feel for you and know what a hard decision it is but if he seems otherwise happy and not distressed then I would keep him as long as possible.

  16. There will be few AWs printed for Aug then. I warn you, I will only be printing for those whose caps were received before July 1st. If you have not even paid your club sub yet then I suggest you do so ASAP then check your club sec/treasurers have sent in the caps.
  17. Looking good but how come we just get a pic of a lovely young lady with the tank and not one of these musclebound guys lifting it in?
  18. How many did you catch after you fell in then?
  19. I think he is just very happy and thinking of breeding. They do colour up nicely when conditions are right
  20. Not sure what you mean Joe. A mutt is a term for a mixed breed (used to refer to dogs but now covers mixed other things) whereas frag is short for fragment - a piece. There are all sorts of hybrid fish out there now, just as many specifically crossed as there is accidentally.
  21. Details of clubs are on our main page. Several club members are in here too (like Jim Sy and Livingart )
  22. There are a number of African cichlid enthusiasts in Auckland so I am sure they can help you. It is important to have a tank large enough for them as they are very territorial. It is also important to make sure you do not mix the wrong species as many are not compatible.
