    The What's Up? thread.

Invercargill finally showed us some sun today. I walked into the Queen's Park this morning (while Grant went to the truck museum - I have seen it 2x which was enough for me but he was happy to see it a 3rd time) and had a good look around. They have a big aviary in there and a number of animals too. Then went to the museum and met Harry the tuatara. We then went to Bluff and had a lovely lunch at The Drunken Sailor, went up to the lookout, then back into town as Grant wanted to visit a man specialising in 1950's/60's sports cars who also builds replica early Jaguars and Ford GT40's. We were going to fly to Stewart Island but it was very rough and windy and I don't travel well so we decided to do that another time. Tomorrow we head to Queenstown, stopping on the way for a trip on the Kingston Flyer :happy1:
  2. You are assuming he did this himself and was in full control of his faculties but that may not be the case ie he may have passed out from drink or drugs with idiots for friends who thought it would be an hilarious prank.
  3. They are in a blue one so either they didn't sell it or they bought another blue one 8) Ross & Dianne I think their names are. We have 3 BOP couples on this run.

We got to meet Godly3vil and his family and fish tonight :happy2: Would have called in to see Jim R, as we are staying about 420m down the road from his place, but we ran out of time. Perhaps tomorrow - if he is around.
  6. I am currently in Invercargill Caper. At the bottom of the South Island. Cold and wet here too
  7. Guess who is on our South Island MX5 Tiki Tour with us??? The owners of Animal Antics 8)
  8. I passed a sign that pointed to Milton yesterday! We had been around the Taiere(?) Heads and all around the back country on our way to the Station Restaurant at Mosgiel. Best meal there I have had in a long time!!

We got a pic and a write up in the Otago Daily Times as our convoy headed through town. It was fine and sunny at the albatross colony but there was only one "chick" left. He is full sized and about to head off. Did you know, when an albatross first leaves the nest, it heads out to sea and does not go back to land for 5 years!!?? They do not start breeding until they are about 10 years old. We also got to go down in the old gun emplacements and play with the Armstrong Disappearing Gun :happy1: We managed not to shoot the lighthouse too

Your hose is running Sam! I spoke too soon F15hguy, it then started to spit and is now overcast. The sun keeps attempting to show so hopefully we won't get wet or freeze to death at the albatross colony. Visited The Pet Warehouse this morning.
  11. Congratulations. Email the pics to me and I will put them up for you when I get home in a couple of weeks or so. How bad an accident??? :-?
  12. We have a tank at the local Hospice with 20+ black widows in it. Very peaceful fish and never had them attack any other species or each other. I have never had any nasty ones either.

Hello from Cromwell. We have passed quite a few bodies of water (Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki among them) but not seen any fishes. Not that we looked hard! Went to the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre at The Hermitage by Mt Cook. We will have to believe them about the mountain as it was raining hard and very foggy so we couldn't see any majestic alpine anythings. Heading to Dunedin tomorrow and will be going on to Invercargill later in the week. Must check up on what Godly3vil is doing with all the plants! Perhaps a surprise inspection is in order
  15. I don't use salt in my tank.

Grant's birthday pic was over-exposed (the photo, not Grant) and you can't make out what the cake is with white icing against a white base  Have a look at this instead...

Cake now made and iced - of course with cream cheese icing. Carrot cake isn't carrot cake without the cream cheese! It also has lemon (I like a hint of lemon in a carrot cake) and is sprinkled with crushed walnuts. I shall try and remember to get a photo of the birthday boy with his cake this evening. Have to eat it all tonight as we head away on tour tomorrow and I don't think it will fit in the car. :happy2:
  18. Circumstantial evidence As they were newly introduced, it could be one guppy did not cope with the stress and died - then got eaten by the opportunistic cochu. Many of those fancy guppies seem to drop dead at the slightest provocation!

Being an innocent, I would have no idea where to find a tinny house - but I am sure I could borrow some from the neighbours as they often light up of an evening and their deck is beside our driveway. I could get high going to collect the mail! Just made a carrot cake (first time I have tried) for Grant's birthday today. :happy2:

On a good note (for me) the Foxy Morons won the jackpot at quiz tonight so we got $120 each. The rest went into the pot to use next term. :bounce: :happy1:  We came 3rd tonight and 3rd overall for the term. 8) Grant and I start our holiday on Friday, around the South Island, get home for 2 days then off again to Melbourne :happy1: Hopefully the builders will have finished the garage extension by the time we return.
  21. Guinea pigs are popular in Peru.
  22. It is my understanding it is the Ancistrus sp that need wood and they can get it these days in bottom feeder pellets that contain lignin

    Sick WCMM

Hard for me to say as they are so small to start with they were usually fairly well grown before I could even see them!
