  1. There is a theory that temperature has an affect on sex ratio.
  2. Don't forget Wairarapa are also having a Livebearer only Show Labour Weekend (Oct 21 - 22 I think) this year. Details are in the August Aquarium World (just finished printing) You could scoop the prizes at both!! :bounce:
  3. I currently have an extra filter hanging off my lounge tank cycling it for someone who is having a new tank built. This way works well. Make sure the fish loads are similar.
  4. Sorry I have no idea but wondered if kribs can get egg bound?
  5. Do you get any direct sunlight on the tank? You know how curtains and carpet fade in the sun...
  6. I doubt the peas are to blame unless you did not remove the uneaten remains. No other ideas at the moment sorry caper.
  7. I did it like this... 1. Fill 4ft tank with rocks and water. Start filtration 2. Add 4 goldfish about 5 - 8cm each 3. Leave in tank 4 - 6 weeks. 4. Add heaterstat (previously checked to make sure it is set at correct temperature 5. Once water has reached correct temperature, remove goldfish (to outside pond in this case, as it was summer) 6. Add lots of juvenile cichlids (all were about 4 - 6cm) all together

    oscar sulking

A common behaviour with oscars. Apart from trying to tempt him with different food, wait until he gets over it on his own. Have you tried banana?

    HELP!!!

I would think local vets would have the right sort of instrument to pull it out of the mouth.
  10. A shift like that can often set them off. If something upsets them it does not take them long to breed again. Have you something for them to lay their eggs on? If not, they will likely choose somewhere stupid, like around the filter outlet or on the heaterstat  Try lying a bit of slate on an angle against the side of the tank for them to spawn on.
  11. That has been tried in the past wok but unfortunately most members did not then get their magazines.
  12. The pdf files would average 2Mb so too large for many - especially those on dial-up. You bring up a point re burning your own though. What is to stop one person getting a CD, or email version, then copying it and giving it to other, non FNZAS, people? How do we control who gets a magazine if they haven't paid for it through subscription or club affiliation?
  13. I have ground down all my molars and need to buy a wig
  14. Did you get that information for me Warren?

    Cooked Tetra's

Bummer billaney. I know exactly what you mean as my Odessa barbs didn't cope with 34C either
  16. I actually have had a number of member names sent with no address details. How am I supposed to send them their magazines?? Burning the magazines on CD has actually been suggested wok and may be used in the future. It would create extra work as I split the mailing list into post and CD sections but I guess a lot less folding, stapling etc. If burned onto CD it would be in a pdf format. Would many be interested in getting this instead of a printed version? I am certainly willing to llok at the option. The breeding records were, for the first time, sent out on CD this year.
  17. They DO get reminded!! Burn what information onto disk wok?
  18. Will you not be at the Wairapa Livebearer Show at Labour Weekend then wok?
  19. I think it will also slowly dissolve in the water
  20. Oh the AW gets read by most, I was referring to the YB. Grant will help. I also have 2 club members willing to help, and they have done so for a couple of years, but they work long hours and have busy lives too.
  21. That you with the surname starting with P antwan?
  22. Right above this post is a sticky with step by step instructions. Basically, you need to have somewhere online that hosts photos (like www.Photobucket.com) and allows links. Once you have an online host you send the photos from your computer to the online host then you can link the photos there to your post here.
  23. I gather there was plenty of pushing wok but... Finally got North Shore's list this morning Willy. By the way, I started printing the AW covers this afternoon. Won't be long now - well, another week perhaps. Takes a few hours to print covers as they have to go through at half speed and single side at a time. Pages take 2 or 3 days each magazine to print all plus I also have to do the YB covers, again one side at a time. THEN we have to fold, staple, join 2 mags together, wrap, address and stamp them all (x2). Hope to have a final full master list sent tonight so I can then build up a new mailing list. It is times like this I wonder why I do this job - especially when I discover the majority don't even bother reading them
  24. DC3? I only got hold of a little yellow biplane. Damn! (BTW, caper is a she )
