  1. Old pantyhose are good to put peat in (as long as nobody is wearing them at the time). Choose a natural peat that has no additives. You can buy the sponges or use filter wool. I also like to put extra ceramic noodles in mine under the foam.
  2. All right, I've had enough. I am so upset I am leaving the country!!!! Tee hee, Grant and I are off to Brunei next week :bounce: I gather our hotel has free Net access so I will be able to keep an eye on you from there.

    Yay... New Post

2 tubs outside. One for waterlogging large driftwood and the other for breeding critters for fishfood. Oh, plus half a mussel float for daphnia.
  4. Yeah I know but not everyone reads all the threads so this way he knows it will be seen by the majority
  5. It would be preferable to put it in just the club section and maybe freshwater and saltwater too.
  6. Give the guy a break (not that he deserves one) as he did say she was his better half. Hi fishy_lips and welcome. Your input will be appreciated.
  7. Don't forget to change my name in the middle of the blurb at the bottom too! I missed it first time
  8.        Oh dear oh dear and all so off topic!!!
  9. I assume the finished article will be emailed to me for the Aquarium World?
  10. Posters have been sent to Jammos to add relevant information before printing. All systems GO! :bounce:
  11. I never took any notice of how old mine were when they started to breed. They can be odd in that they may not breed for years then suddenly start to do so non stop until they stop again as suddenly, and mysteriously, as they began. They are not too territorial and you will not have a problem with several males in one tank. Of course, if you're wanting to breed them you will need females
  12. Very simple. The males have long bristles around the mouth and up the middle of their head. The females have short bristles around the mouth.
  13. Those little red ones are all over the place down the Kaikoura coast. They don't get much bigger and won't cope with water constantly over 16C.

    Disaster

Not sure that brand has anything to do with it. There will always be a dud product, even in the best of them. Just one of those things. It should be covered warranty though so you can get a replacement, even if it doesn't cover the fish losses
  15. Redwoods are CLOSED FRIDAYS but otherwise open 11am - 6pm. I too recommend Organism, cnr Clyde and Ilam Rds.
  16. Try the forum in The Tropical Tank Mickey. It is UK based.
  17. I hate ornaments in tanks (terracotta pots for breeding don't count) and prefer the natural look in decor and colour. Also dislike unnatural colours in gravel - eg blue (no offence to those who like it, it is my personal opinion only) I like a tank with lots of smaller fish, like barbs and tetras, rather than a few large ones. Currently down to one tropical community with tetras, barbs, gouramis, hoplos and bristlenoses.
  18. Some will, some won't. Frequent water changes might speed the process up. So may carbon in the filter
  19. Hi Gavin. You might be interested to know WAWGS recently affiliated to the FNZAS Welcome
  20. Five tanks is not an obsession, it is merely an interest Welcome
