  1. You can obviously run fast
  2. Welcome Vtec8u. The Wairarapa club meets on the 1st Thursday of each month (except January) 7.30pm at Dave Anderson Motorcycles in Queen St. Masterton. How did you miss the Livebearer Show they had on recently?? It was in the newspapers and well advertised. Hobbyists attended from far and wide.
  3. Various photo editing programmes will do border for you evil. I think the key to Hazara's quality in the pics is the amount of light he uses.
  4. What size is the tank with the shark and plecs? Over 4ft I hope. Guppies are always pregnant (unless they are males) and the fry easy to raise, assuming they are not eaten first. Lots of plants, fine leaved and floating, will give them hiding places. They will eat finely crushed flake food. What size is the new tank too?
  5. If the fish are used to that pH I would leave it alone. Better to be wrong but stable than fluctuating as you try and lower it. The pH Down is not good to use in my opinion as it is only temporary due to buffering effects in the water. Driftwood will lower pH as will peat in the filter (put it in a fine mesh bag or old pantyhose) and lots of plants.
  6. Well it had better be on now cos Grant and I are booked on the ferry! Spidersweb I will PM you re your bed offer as we would appreciate one on Sunday night on the way home if possible please.
  7. Thanks spider, will keep that in mind. Thank you for the offer. All will depend on ferry availability times and what time the exec meeting starts.
  8. Hmmm perhaps I could start it off with the extract while the bale kicks in. My pond is around 6,500L so would be expensive to keep adding extract.
  9. Just looking into ferry times and costs to drive up.
  10. Anyone in Wgtn travelling up to FNZAS exec meeting or molly hunt and have room for 2 more? If not, we might book MX5 on ferry

    Neons M.I.A

I'd put it down to hungry angels or poor quality neons.
  12. Where can one find the extract fishboi? How much in a bottle, to treat how many litres and do you know the cost? Does the extract work as well as the bale?
  13. If you died there would be no point giving you the mollies! If you have spare funding feel free to send it to us
  14. Are you sure it is hay Pegasus? I thought only barley straw worked.
  15. Please tell your wife a vase is never suitable for a goldfish!!!
  16. Decisions decisions. Grant and I were putting in our apologies for that meeting because of the expense but if we do that hunt as well we can justify it How fast will we know so we can book cheaper flights? :bounce:
  17. Keep the pond shaded and have lots of plants to cover 3/4 of the water surface. 200 - 300L isn't very big for a pond. Don't add any more fish. Get the filter running again. Regularly run the hose in it so it overflows and replaces some of the water.
  18. Post this in the saltwater section as many of the salties don't read the rest of the forums. Plenty of help there.
  19. We have bought fish while travelling and kept them in a Click Clack plastic container as they don't leak. We filled a 3L bottle with water from the place of purchase and when we stopped for nights we would do a partial water change and run an airhose in the container overnight. Travelled 4 days like this and fish survived well (can't remember what species). heating wasn't required as car and motels were warm enough.
  20. children should be encouraged at meetings. If they misbehave, drop them in the tank.
  21. It all depends on what sort of tank and lid you have and how much space there is for lighting. My lights are in a reflector and just sit on top of the glass lid (that stops water splashing the electrics, and fish leaping out), under the wooden lid that covers all.
  22. Guppies are able to deal with lower temperatures than most tropical fishes, as are some barbs (like rosys, golden etc) and other fish. They are fine in "cold" water if the temperature is not less than 18C. The average well insulated house in many parts of NZ would not get below this, hence the term "coldwater" means "in a well insulated house in a warm part of the country so you do not require a heaterstat" 8)
  23. Since it is MY thread then I am right and the only others who are also right are those who agree with me. (and Jude - she can be right whenever she likes )
