  1. But if it is up to the max and still can't heat to the correct temp it needs replacing.
  2. Don't forget, if the heaterstat is new is is covered by warranty.
  3. Just be wary of what you wash your hands with before putting them in the water
  4. Sorry, I really shouldn't have said that but it was an unfortunate shot of him
  5. Have you looked under the bed? You sometimes get an earthy smell from a tank or filter but that is all. I wonder if the room is shut up more now winter is approaching and you need a dehumidifier?
  6. Depends. What sort of smell?
  7. Goldfish are very messy and produce a lot of waste. I would have them in a 250L eventually. Perhaps it got a fright and jammed itself behind, or under the filter uplift or something? Is it otherwise acting normally and eating well?

    Dither Fish?

Dither fish are small shoaling fish added to a tank to make other more timid inhabitants feel safer and swim about more. If they see the other fish swimming about they feel safer.
  9. Love it fishy_t!!! EVERY pic I specifically took of Faran came out blurry. It was suggested he might be a vampire as I didn't seem to be able to catch him on film Luckily he is in some group shots.

    Howdy

Welcome to the forums. You will definitely have fun with the Kapi-Mana lot! 8)
  11. Nothing. It should clear by itself in a few days. Has it recently been set up?
  12. That does look odd. They could do with an even bigger tank than that too by the way It certainly looks like internal bleeding of some sort. Is there anything in the tank it could have bashed itself against, like a small hole in an ornament? I would expect scales to be missing though if that was the case. I have seen bleeding around the gill plates but never like this before. :-?
  13. I certainly tried to get at least one of everyone but note some managed to appear a lot more than others! I was pleased with how they came out, especially as the lighting was so low.
  14. Here are my pics from conference. Note there are 2 sub albums there too (bus trip and National Aquarium) http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ ... ce%202007/
  15. All very well but my fish refuse to eat zucchini but love cucumber
  16. It is too late to get anything added to the list. The FNZAS tried very hard to do this and asked for participation and help from fish keepers but got very little response from all but a few.
  17. We got a personal behind-the-scenes tour on Monday Ya gotta know the right people  Trip went well thanks Loopy. Smooth crossing again for once.
  18. The conch needs a bigger tank for his shark
  19. Try your Drs surgery. I get lots from there, especially this time of year when we get the flu vaccines in I have a number of poly boxes here I could have passed on when we headed north at the weekend Heat packs can be got from sports shops. I use a plastic fizz bottle filled with hot water and wrapped in newspaper or a towel.
  20. I cut the cucumber into 2cm thick slices and thread them on to a plastic knitting needle. The needle is weighted down with a fishing sinker.
  21. I have had bristlenoses survive 2 hours out of the tank when I stripped it. Didn't notice them in the plant
  22. I would have said a bad fungus infection but I know of no fungus that is hard. I would be doing a series of water changes in case poor water quality is the cause (as it is in 99% of cases). Have you done any water tests? Is it another wcmm or one of the other fish? I would be quarantining the minnows if both have the same symptoms.
  23. It is always funny when it has happened to someone else. Pics would have been even better
