    Is this weird?

Depends on what size it is and what you put in it. Very limited I would think.
  2. Sounds like bullying to me. Probably someone after lights-out (BGK?). Would explain the clown loach whitespot too if water parameters are good. Lots of plants and provide more caves. All those fish will need to be moved anyway as they grow too big for a 3ft.
  3. Smuggle them in. They won't notice once the fish are in the tank will they?
  4. If longer than 10 - 14 days I put doses in a daily pill container then get house sitter to empty dose into tank on alternate days. Also hide all other fish food.
  5. How could you forget plantgeek? Curt's site is the best for plants I reckon
  6. The get together is Sunday evening 27th May wilson, at Loopy's place.

  8. Ah but how do you know there isn't a secreat club already
  9. My fish all hang around the uplift hoping to nab bits dislodged.

    Garden fish

A lot depends on the area you live in, the depth of the pond and whether it is sheltered.
  11. Sounds like we should have a buy, sell, swap at the same time
  12. There is no way to tell without dissection. I would not add any medications to a tank without confirming a diagnosis.

  14. Hi Empress and welcome to NZ
  15. We had a hermit crab in a cold marine rockpool setup. He was happy as a clam although I do not know if this means he was happier than other hermit crabs

You can't link to pics on your PC, they must be online. They look OK to me but best test them. Get some water, test the pH then let it sit 24 hours and test again. Then repeat after adding rock to the water. If pH stays the same they will be fine. Pouring a little vinegar over them will see if they are suitable too. If the vinegar fizzes on the rocks, don't use them.
  19. Raising the tank temp to 28 or so speeds up the whitespot cycle
  20. Looks like whitespot to me and hard to get rid of on clown loaches. They are very susceptible to it.
  21. Do not mistake "mature" for "cycled". They are two different things. Usually a tank is considered mature after 6 months. A lot depends on how heavily planted and/or stocked the tank is as well.
  22. You do not have to be a club member to join in the fun jn. All welcome.

    cleaning Q

I would do it, but carefully. A trip through the siphon won't hurt them if one does get sucked up but I found mine weren't too siphonable as they sucked harder than the siphon  Put a net under the outlet of the siphon and catch them that way.
  24. If it is a new tank then that brown algae is common and will disappear as the tank matures. Wipe off the brown if you want.
