great, can you dissolve them in boiling water to speed up the process?? does that have any effect?

what is the correct dose rate/period?

it may help but i have tried black out siphoning off the stuff and correcting my phopshpate/ nutrient balance its just taken hold

I am going to trat a tank with era... for cyanobacteria - its the last resort, does anyone know if my gold nugget pleco is likely to have any adverse reaction to this? - is it safe for the fish?

any suggestion for removing the crud when i waterchange it breaks up into the water and is hard to siphon out I can't seem to grab it either...aaaargh! my lfs suggested dropping in two blocks of some algae killer will that be a good way to help kill it off ? ........ will it hurt my babies as well?

Thanks for that is there a testkit for phosphates? I only have three discus in a 225 litre tank I am wondering if the bloodword I feed in increases the phosphates? I am doing two weekly water changes of approx 25% there seems to be water circultion as the second filter creates a ripple type affect along the top of the tank, will additional carbon filters assist I ripped the ones out of my aqua one 980 as they were cruddy as, should i also look to remove the plants which are heavily affected by it and replace them? or maybe cut them right back to the stalks...

My tank has been setup for a year and has the standard filtration for an Aqua One 980 and an additional cannister filter - my tank is covered in thick brown fluffy algage it is over 30cm in legnth and incredibly dense its suspended in the water - its not the brown algage that spots on the glass its long fluffy and thick and all over the top of the tank and actually hanging in long clumps ??? I have been told to nail it with an algae killer i am running a UV sterilizer as well so hopefully this will kill off any of the airborne spores? no cleaner fish seems to touch it what causes this? HELP !

Sorry to be a nusinance just to be 100% certain using prazi to keep the flukes in check will not cause any damage or drama to the fish and I should treat for 3 days in a row right then do a good vac?

Okay my discus were flashing quite badly for 2 weeks particularly at night an spending alot of time hiding in plants and driftwood but were stil eating - now they are out a bit more during night and during the day and I don't seem to spot any flashing at all, they still take of and dartacross the tank from time to time I have prazi to treat do you think its a good idea to go ahead with this as I don't see that much flashing anymore - could it do any harm I hear its quite gentle stuff?

apart from ammonia, nitrate and nitrate what else should i be checking for in my water- oh and the PH of course - I stripped out a whole lot of java moss to discover my large bit of driftwood and give the discus lots of free open swimming space at the front I notice there is alot of gunk comming up fro mthe substrate do I just need to persisit and get this sorted? also what happens if there are uite a few dead leaves left to sit at the back of the tank?

i have added a cannister filter to the standard aqua one its an professional 250 and i am water changing twice a week approx 20% what else can I do, maybe check the filter pipes?

I have been doing alot of reading on the forums about the green slime/bacteria stuff - i do notice when I water change the tank smells very musty and swamp like, I haven't got lots of slime but I did pull ou of the tank some brown gunge it almost looked like wet hair wrapped around a plughole! i also notice on my plants there is stuff similiar to cobwebs suspended at the top of the tank is this going to be fatal/dangerous to my discus? - what is the best way to get rid of it, should i remove the affected plants? HELP !!!! PS I removed some old aqua one carbon one filters and thought this might of created the problem??

Has anyone had experiences good or bad with discus being kept with dwarf chain loaches I have three biggish discus and to dwarf chain loaches, they seem to flash uncontrollably after being fed bloodworm at night and I notice it does sometimes occur at the same time the dwarf chain loaches are about, are these two an okay mix or does the dwarf chain loach flit about too quickly and maybe feel like a fluke to the discus?? More questions, I am going to treat my 225litre tsank with Droncit for fluke I cam only get 50 tabs of 50mg prazi - i know the dosage is 250mg per 100litres of water are there any suggestions for treatment cyccles to get the best use oout of these tablets, i am best to do 3 treatments in a row or leave a day between treatments??

does UV sterilizer need turning off while treating with meds? if its built intothe filter how do you do this?
