  3. Hi all, A very Merry Christmas to you all from me and my family. Thanks for all your help throughout the year, without you guys my tank would not be looking as great as it do and my fish be as healthy. I hope you enjoy your Christmas and have a fantastic and very happy 2012.
  4. Sophia you won't believe it but its gone Caryl I just just took that pic in time, we decided that disaster struck due to the blizzard causing very high snowlevels on the roof, causing it to cave in, next time I will have a lighter snowfall LOL. Thanks so much Joe, it did look very nice indeed, a pitty it won't be on our Christmas table
  5. By set it only means that the biscuits have gone nice and soft and are no longer chrisp. Enjoy
  6. Well it completely caved in now, disaster struck on my little house. I think I just put too much icing on the roof atleast I managed a photo before it happened, Kids will munch on it anyways, so no worries :rotf:
  7. Well I am done, although my roof is caving in a bit LOL
  8. I agree with Cricketman, South africa has beautiful sights just be save thats all. Do not forget to go to the Capetown aquarium, your jaw will drop, it makes Kelly Tarlton look like a small little fish shop Just take sea sick tablets if you are going to stand infront of the Kelp forest LOL I got seasick staring at the kelp swaying front and forth the whole time  If the spider crab is still there, its a wonder to see, its huge and looks like a massive spider although its a crab. You sound as if you got all your medications sorted, thats very good especially malaria, its a nasty one :nilly: http://www.aquarium.co.za/ http://www.aquarium.co.za/species_exhibits/the_kelp_forest_exhibit/ see you do not want to stare too long over here you begin to sway with the kelp :nilly:
  9. Oh, I don't know what I would ever do if I had to anaesthetise a fishie. I cringe at all of this thread. Thankfully I have only had deaths no had to kill options :tears:

Celebrating 14 years with my wonderful Hubby
  13. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_snakeneck_turtle http://www.chelonia.org/Articles/easternlongneck.htm http://www.turtlepuddle.org/exotics/chelodina.html http://www.ehow.com/how_8704566_care-snakenecked-turtle.html All the above links say a basking area should be supplied. They need vitamin d and need to dry out during basking time. So I would say its a must
  14. Hi there all. I have just over 30 Harlequins in my tank and for the last week or so they have become super active. Chasing each other, spreading their fins and even their colours seem brighter, especially the ones with reddish eyes. I have looked and looked and can't see a very obvious difference with them, so how would I know which are males and females, and has anybody ever had any harlequin fry successfully in an aquarium? Here is a pic of them, not so clear sorry
  15. It looks like a beautiful plant for an aquarium and thats about all I know, its a wonder my tank looks like a forest with my amount of knowlegde
  16. From everything I have learned from Donna, I would not agree with that. She has snakeheads and they all have basking areas, and at Butterflyworld I think I saw some and they also had basking areas. But the right person to ask would be Donna.
  17. awww wish we could give you chocolates and hugs too Hope your weather in your head clears up and that you only have sunshine and rainbows from now on. Always here for you  ps. You can come and visit me next year and help dig my new native pond that was inspired by your brilliant book :digH:
  18. I am starting to feel much better. So far no one else got it, I think I got onto it pretty quick and once you take your first antibiotic its no longer contagious. I think it helped that the kids were at school as well. We decided to trim back just a little, but whatever we don't make on Christmas day we will make for new years I am however very happy that both my kiddies are immunised against chicken pox because several of my friends are going to have spotty kids over Christmas and mine will be ok
  19. I bought a kitset one from pack and save for nine dollars, opened it this morning and the chimney is broken and the one side wall is broken, guess I will have to stick it together, atleast its just broken and not crumbled. I have tried baking it myself, but can never get the thickness quite right. I am going to go to the cake shope and see what little decorations I can buy, someone said that I should make the eggwhite icing and leave it out for a day or two too harden and then grate it for realistic snow. Might try that too.
  20. What a beautiful fish, the saltwater fish are so colourful !drool:
  21. Who is going to make one, and do you have any tips for me?
  22. That is absolutely amazing, he must have loved it and is gonna treasure the memory forever
  23. So sorry about your fishies, Why don't you make yourself a home made breeding trap out of an old mosquito net or something. That way you can just catch the babies and put them in there, but they will still be safe in their pond water they were born in I might build a pond next year, so is very excited, though mine is going to be native
  24. Too cute, looks very relaxed
