My tank is 80cmL x 85cmH x 47cmW, thinking of using 3w Cree led's or 1w Epistar, 6500K white with a few Red 660nm, Green 515nm, Blue 660nm, mixture of plants just the general ones you get from the pet store.
Hi team:
Is it possible to use natural sea water a marine tank? but first filter it and clean it before using it in the tank...
My idea:
Using a 200L drum with a decent protein skimmer attached, cycle the natural sea water through a sump and then using it.... Obviously checking the salinity and diluting with fresh water if necessary..
Can this work? just thinking of a cheaper way in the long run..
Also does anyone know where to collect the cleanest sea water around Auckland?
Thanks

Hi guys,
Today im after something that might be familiar to you but something I just cant seem to find and I hope you can help.
You know when you go to the beach and you have a wave crashing into the rock-pools… kinda like that gushing wave..
I want to simulate the same in my marine tank.
The closest I could find was the following to give you an idea, but obviously just would like something on a small scale.
or
Something that collects water and then releases at once, creating a gush of water..
Thanks again for your time.

Hi Guys,
Im in the process of changing my fresh water to a marine tank and need someone to help me convert my tank to be able to use a sump as it was build to use a canister filter, also to build the sump to fit into my cabinet.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
We have a 1000L tank outside that does very well in summer time but now with winter on the way we are looking at a cost effective way in keeping the water at a constant 24-25'c without spending 100's of $$ on electricity bills.
All ideas welcome.
ps: The tank is in a 2mx2m green house.
