  1. I was just about to post this link when i found your thread. I love that blog!
  2. "Larvae are predominately yellow with scattered red spots. They have a functional mouth, eyes, and a swim bladder." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetraodontidae I am pretty sure they don't lose this swimbladder as they develop further.
  3. Pick up a plastic 100L storage tub from the warehouse as a temporary home! Goodluck
  4. Lol, it was just a little blue led light...like moonlight! Took no effort on my behalf! I was too lazy that evening to set up a seperate tank for the eggs
  5. Ich is always in your water. Its only when a fish becomes stressed that is can become succeptible to it. You caught yours fairly early and so treatedment will almost defintely be affective
  6. Sorry for the late reply! (been kinda busy and sick) My rams have halted at breeding at the moment for some reason. The males and females still like eachother so i'm not really sure what's going on. The regular blue ram female was pretty full with what i thought to be eggs, but then she just 'lost' them overnight? She may have dropped them. Previous to that she had a weird little white worm on her pectoral fin, which i 'surgically removed' and then treated with garlic and salt. She appears to be full healthy now so hopefully they lay again soon. My electric blue rams have also paused the spawning at the moment, probably because i added a couple extra rems to the same tank. I will have to shuffle things around this weekend and hopefully their attempts will begin again! Unfortunately since i only recently got the hang of raising ram fry succesfully i only have a few 1cm babes left. But I promise, when i get the next spawn I will be MUCH better at raising them because i realized what i was doing wrong before. Will keep you guys updated!
  7. Yes I am not sure how its like with blue-tongues, but I use to give my bd warm baths when she was about to shed. Also watch the skin on the toes as it can get stuck and cut circulation off.
  8. And what did this forum do to you to deserve your arrogance? There are numerous members on here whom I'm sure contribute more than they get in return advise-wise, yet they don't walk around with their chests puffed out all the time.
  9. Maybe he's become attached to them?
  10. Well if you want to sway his decision on the $120 choco zebras, you can inform him that people were recently willing to pay almost $300 for 2 on TradeMe;)
  11. I think this is a bit out of line. I don't know what your problem is with everyone but you need to get your additude in check and contribute something other than hostility.
  12. I've left a night light on before for my male ram so he could fight off the kuhli loaches and snails
  13. I would estimate that abotu 10% float with eventual sinkage But you have to put them INTO the water, not just ontop of the water. 90% will swirl around i nthe current and then settle on the bottom.
  14. This 'super food' sinks as well. I dip my finger into the food so it sticks and then put it under the water. It will swirls around in the water current where the discus and ram chase it and then it settles on the bottom where they finish it off Some of it floats at the top for a while but eventually sinks. I don't bother pre-soaking it because it doesn't really expand at all like the colourbits.
  15. Yup, this stuff is really good. Protein is needed for muscle development and babies are bulking up nicely. This food would be more important for your young and juvi ones (60%), less so for the adults who are done growing and only need some protein (40%) for muscle and stuff. But other than protein, it also has the right portions of vitamins and lipids. I also mix the diet for my discus with brine shrimp, blood worms, and live foods but I use this stuff as the staple. Proximate analysis: *Protein 60% *Lipids 18% Ash 15% Moisture 8% Vitamin C 1,000 ppm Vitamin E 400 ppm *Astaxanthin, 500 ppm ( promotes growth )
  16. Their eyes are so weird! There is no pupil! How do they see? Lol
  17. Awesome Do you think you will try raising them if they succeed with a batch?
  18. It's the same stuff I posted the information about in one of your threads ages ago.
  19. Thanks Ryan and Simon. It was great meeting you guys and everyone else as well. Saw some really cool setups! Inspires me for the future Till next time!
  20. 99% sure i'll be coming with Tania and Scottie! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
  21. I think its the same fish as a gernard. Yeah...the article took the angle on it like "look! fish with hands! we've never seen this before!" when really the scientists were excited to just discover a single new species
  22. What do they mean newly discovered? These fish have been documented since before I was a wee little tikett watching the discovery channel. Maybe they are just referring to the pink one being new. These 'handfish' just look like frogfish which are a type of coastal anglerfish. Here are some more 'walking fish' Eastern Sea robin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_robin and a Batfish! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red-lipped_batfish
  23. Might be better to classify them as subspecies. Just putting it out there, but I don't know anything about Frontosas.
