  1. He's such a nice guy too, its a shame he doesn't advertise this stuff more! I will do it for him because I have been convinced
  2. They are imported from some manufacture...best ask Stu about it because I don't know what kind of aquaculture they were originally intended for. He may list these pellets on trademe...can't check because I'm at work but I can PM his email if you want. There is NO chicken meal/land animal proteins in these foods only fish, plankton, shrimp etc. No artificial colours either which can affect fertility. Remember the pellets are a very rich, high protien food. So even if your fish say they want more as their bellies are not full as they grow I would be careful only to feed it once per day. He estimates that 200g of pellets will last at least a 2-3 months when combined with other foods dependent of cause on how much and how often you feed it. He can vacuum pack some of the food so that it lasts longer if you buying more bulk sums.
  3. I like Pedro too...but it sounds like he/she is meant to be from S. America. And Pepe from France
  4. It sounds like they were just sorting out the heirarchy. Even if there is days of one fish chasing another, I would give it more time for them to work it out between them (unless the weaker fish is getting seriously beat up). Most of the time it works itself out and they will act like best friends after, or at least co-exist peacefully. Occasionally the head bully will remind all the others that he is still in charge My leopard is king of the castle and will chase and headbutt the same-sized white butterfly but will not touch the smaller Turq. The white butterfly will in turn act submissive to the leopard but give the little Turq a hard time. Next minute you look at them, they will all be hanging out like best buddies at one end of the tank... I wonder what will happen when I finally add my youngest 2 discus in a few months. I bet the Turq will be happy that he/she finally has someone to chase
  5. I also agree...although I can't get my discus to touch tucker yet and it ends up making a huge mess in my tank. I bought these really good quality pellets from Stuart Lord. My discus love them Here is the nutritional break down for anyone who is interested: Live Food Replacement Diet Proximate analysis: *Protein 60% *Lipids 18% Ash 15% Moisture 8% Vitamin C 1,000 ppm Vitamin E 400 ppm *Astaxanthin, 500 ppm ( promotes growth ) Comes in 800-1000 microns (new recipe- no squid meal) and is 500-800 microns (old recipe - with squid meal). I feed the bigger pellets to my large discus and the smaller pellets to the ones I'm still growing out as a staple diet. They love it! I can practically see my young super checkerboards grow before my eyes! The larger pellets are lighter in colour, but the smaller ones are very red and thus will make the poop really red. I also feed colour bits to the large discus for variety along with frozen brine shrimp and bloodworms. I find that colour bits definetly put more of a red tint on the fish's colour when i feed more of them while the pellets do not. Its funny though, every discus has its personal preference for what they like the best My rams spawn every 2 weeks on the small pellets as well! And they are pretty fussy eaters so I was surprised how they gobbled this stuff down almost immediately. Stu also feeds this stuff to his Apistos with great success. But because its such good quality, its not the cheapest, but I found the prices really fair... much better then what you'd get a petshop for less and of a lower quality.
  6. Awwww They are very cute!
  7. I don't see the point of using mm either...unless its actually less then 1cm. I don't like reading that a tank is 900 by 400 by 400... why waste room typing extra zeros?
  8. Only 10-12cm http://diszhal.info/english/catfishes/e ... ricola.php
  9. They are not available because their threat as an invasive weed or pathogen introducer has not been assessed, or it has been assessd and shown to be a threat to native plants (perfect conditions to out-compete them). It's not only DoC that is involved with decision-making... Except that some people on this site work for DoC and have probably read this already. And it may not hurt DoC, but it can potentially hurt NZ ecosystems...eg. oxygen weed. It depends on how well it does in an aquarium setting. If you want to be part of a case study involving native plants in aquaria (as several people on this site already are), you can contact NIWA about the project they are running.
  10. She means HOW they handle the package.
  11. Mine at 11-12cm arrived fine.
  12. Ahhh can't see the fish the plants are too bright!! JK Looks great!
  13. Ebola weighed even less then that
  14. Maybe it was trying to go fishing in your tanks pheonix....lol
  15. Seriously guys...I'm not impressed. NZ was not suppose to have spiders like this when I decided to move here! Spiders and me are not friends. I have a pic of a 'giant' spider that was in my shower one night but its on my bf's cell phone...I will try to get it. I think its the same one that came in about a month earlier and was sitting on a pile of clothes next to the laundry basket... The third time he comes in will be the last time
  16. Is it also known as 'temple plant'?
  17. Look at her little tongue go! So cute
  18. That's fine with me, as long as I don't wake up in the process!
  19. Did they go through the security x-ray without anyone saying anything?
  20. So do you not say anything then or do you pre-arrange it?
  21. Yeah... I know I know. That is what people always tell me but I'm not buying it with these big suckers. They always seem to try to end up on my face. No one believes me
  22. I mean look at him! He looks furious! Probably angry because he can't find someone's pant leg to crawl up
  23. Why do big spider's eyebrows always look like this ---> What are they so angry at?
  24. Oh god...I'm moving back to Canada if one of those ends up in my room
