Mine is closer to the female in the 1st 2 vids, but closest to the male in the last - I think the spangling + green on face separates the male from female. Red is also not as intense on males- only on the fins.

i have a male + female, male is a pussy, female DOMINATES him :lol: He needs to toughen up. She eats a lot of food, he is a little more reserved. He looks awesome when he flares, to be honest, I thought the festae would beat on everything, but hes quite submissive especially if you compare him to an oscar or jag cichlid. How big do you reckon the festae and male GOLD SAUM will get?

Nice GT bro, looks a bit more developed than my one, there is also quite a nice one in HFF roskill, but i think its sold. Whats the difference between a GT and a gold saum? no difference?

Pretty sure its this one Loricaria_filamentosa, sold as a common whip is most stores that have them I believe, not the twig, royal or red whip.

Geo is ok with plants so far, had him in a planted tank before, was a sev that did the damage.

What about the commons? Seen them about 25cmish

Well, tankmates include: Jar, Festae, Gt's, Bichirs, silver sharks. I have seen some 20cm+ common whips and thought they were pretty cool, possibly a good addition to my tank, hopefully some BNs would be inconspicuous enough also? Nothing in my tank is agro atm, jar is behaving and suprisingly the festae is quite mellow - waiting for the day though :roll: Are different whip species compatible?

Females are supposed to be nicer, but I'm quite happy with his colour so far, probably not even mature yet 8) , gonna replace sand with a darker gravel -@ Morcs: got meself a double white t5 tube 3ft light for $100, so running that as well as a double 4ft flourescent tube light. See if plants will do well in here also, festae doesnt appear to dig in the sand, neither do the GT's. Upped the water changes also, hopefully some wicked growth now

As title says, i quite like whiptails and they get large enough for my other fish not to eat, but not sure if they are hungry for the greens?

Preferably larger tank IMO, big a$$ fish and big waste, Clowns get too big also, thats why i had to sell mine

Well, they seem to be colouring up well 8) Couple of FTS Male GT, photos not doing justice, will hopefully get really orange fins. Festae Not bad i reckon, time for you to post some of yours DavidR!

Small eel maybe, like morcs said a school of butterflyfish would be your best bet, bichirs you could get away but do prefer slightly larger tanks once big - albinos in 150L for life I reckon.
