  1. Silver needlenose gar Various types of knifefish pike cichlid variant? Those 3 come off the top of my head that I have seen on there.
  2. Ask if its a bloke or not
  3. Well I read some articles on the web saying that yes they are found mainly from the central north island and down southerly, but they have records showing that they have also been found up north too. They seem quite small to be G/B frogs, and the colouring suggests brown rather than green, but I suppose that could change easily as they grow - no I didnt hear any croaking noises when I found them.
  4. You wouldnt exactly need to take a lot, a couple of SMALL stems does not affect the ecosystem, and they will grow in your tank fine I would imagine.
  5. Get the mangrove shoots from an estuary I would think, not stocked in stores if thats what you meant.
  6. I would go brackish if we could get the freshwater/brackish moray eel and a couple of the big gobies, your setup looks good . This is just a suggestion but how about putting in some nice light sand (not white silica) and a few small stalks of mangroves - kept trimmed, and some thin twisted roots - would look more estuarine like that.
  7. I was down in Rotorua a few weeks ago and mucked around next to the lake I found a whole lot of little tadpoles in a thermal spring...pond. I brought them back home and put them in a pond to grow. Unfortunately I cant get any pics, as the camera doesnt focus well, but they are maximum of 1cm long, they lack legs, do not have much green at all and are a basic brown colour. Would any experienced frogger know the characteristics of whistling tree frog taddies or whether the ones I have are just golden bell frogs? cheers
  8. Good stripes on the indo tiger, how many tinfoils and cigars are there?
  9. Isn't the reason why plants and shrimp are not generally brought in because they have a higher chance of acclimatising to our environment?
  10. I think I know what substrate Im getting in the weekend
  11. I agree with exploiting the species we already have here, as there are some gems that are yet to appear on the list. And although rays are awesome, David is right about the 0% chance they will be brought in. However, I think alleyways into broadening the range a species similar to what we have here is not unreasonable. For example: we already keep a few species of bichirs here, but there are many more varieties overseas with the same requirements and habitats that are prevented from entering the country. As is the case with dwarf cichlids, larger cichlids, barbs and many tropical fish that are popular overseas enough to become established in the hobby over here too, yet pose no threat to any NZ environment/species. And no, Im not a member of fnzas yet.
  12. Is that builders sand by any chance? Full tank shot
  13. maybe a red coloured plant somewhere at the back as a focal point.
  14. 8) Looking good. I see my old festae. How big are the Nandus now?
  15. Add a Black ghost knife, adds suspense to the tank 8) intriguing fish to watch, and a pleasant surprise when they are busy around the tank - just an opinion, but I think it would be cooler than discus in there.
  16. My large 6ftr with larger fish. 144L community tank 15L guppy tank
  17. I like iceblocks = Fruju, it also sounds kinda funky
  18. You suggest moving house to a certain area closer to a fish store
  19. Incubus, pendulum, Chiddy bang, Linkin park, disturbed. More of a rock fan over rap or hiphop although there are a few I like eg: chiddy bang. Oh and a little of Tears for Fears...'Shout! Shout! Let it all out! These are the things we can do without! C'mon' lol
  20. Nice tank dude, Ive kept a group of geos before, they look mint in a school of four. Discus should be fine if you want them, but as the geos develop their colour - green, golds, blues etc you wont need discus to make the tank look better.
  21. Get a cactus plec, they are cool or the scarlet one.
  22. Definite want would have to be a saltwater reef shark tank, ideally tropical, but seeing as we can't do that here I would settle for carpet sharks, smooth gummy sharks, small rays etc. An outdoor shaded pond effect with added lighting and an indoors viewing window. Have to be a big tank though, like 20,000 litres or something.
  23. Wow, sounds like an expensive mission LA. What of the large tropicals do you still have?
