  1. Are the AquaClears quite adjustable? My fish dont like fast currents.
  2. I dont think an under gravel filter would be any good as the tank is planted and has a sand substrate. I will look into the AquaClear ones. Does anyone know how much they cost?
  3. Lightly Planted with: 5 ember tetras (Getting more) 2 sparkling gouramis (Getting 1 more) 3 Otocinclus 25% weekly water changes.
  4. The dolphin H100 does 230LPH according to the box but one petshop website says it only does 100LPH.
  5. Well the HOB filters seem fine for biological filtration but the intakes are so small and they just seem to clog up.
  6. I currently have a hang on filter (dolphin h100) and dont find it very effective.
  7. Something less than $100 but good quality is what I am looking for. Thanks.
  8. I have 5 in a 50 litre planted aquarium but am planning to get more. I find they are quite delicate fish but they look great and people always comment on how small they are. They defiantly do not like fast currents. Hope that helped.
  9. Net Speed: 21 WPM (words/minute) Accuracy: 77% Gross Speed: 28 WPM (words/minute) But thats typing on my mini EEEPC laptop which is not that easy. Image from this site: http://www.technudgelive.com/linux/wp-c ... newegg.jpg
  10. It is an ex display tank from a pet shop so the back is painted blue. By complete coincidence my wall behind the tank is the exact same colour blue and most people dont notice that the glass is painted. The paint looks a bit different but that is just the lighting.
  11. I have a planted AR850 and I use 10000 Atman 25watt bulb 15000 Atman 20watt bulb and another bulb that I cant read but I think is is a Power-glo one. I also use Seachem flourish excel when I can afford it and cheap Vitapet aquarium plant food.
  12. Well I am 50% sure it is an indian glass fish but I dont think it was as enlongated as that.
  13. hmmmmm maybe not. It was more lemon/glowlight tetra shaped.
  14. Found a pic on google of a Parambassis ranga and I think it might be what I saw but I am not 100% sure.
  15. They were at the pet shop and they were labeled as glass angels but a google search does not bring up anything. They had the shape of a lemon tetra but about half the size (about the size of an ember tetra) and they were see through with a slight greenish colour in them. They were $10 and they did not seem to school. They were quite thin and almost looked squished. Thanks
  16. I like the aquarium wiki as it has a lots of good species information on it. http://www.theaquariumwiki.com/Main_Page Another one I like is aqualand. I dont agree with alot of the acctually information but it has lots of helpful pictures for quite a few species of fish. http://aqualandpetsplus.com/ http://www.loaches.com/ http://applesnail.net/ and http://www.axolotl.org/ also have some very good information on those specific animals.
  17. I find it odd that it is only on the smooth rocks and glass and not any of the wood or plants.
  18. I have a 50 litre aquarium that currently houses a couple of sparkling gouramis, 6 ember tetras and 3 otocinclus. I recently brought a new light for the tank and now there is algae on the glass and a very thick fluffy coating on a couple of rocks. I think it looks cool on the back of the tank and the rocks and it is easy enough to scrape it off the front glass. I was just wondering if there is any harm in leaving it or do I need to scrape it off. Thanks
  19. I just added the male. The male does not seem to care about the female but the female was flaring up. They seem to have left each other alone now but I will keep an eye on them.
  20. in a 165 litre planted aquarium. I already have the female but would quite like to get a plakat. I know normal male bettas can sometimes be kept in females.
  21. I assume you mean keep the recept out of water and sunlight. For a minuite there I thaught you meant the heater.
  22. Ok I went out to the petshops but they only had cheap ones. I just braught an aqua one for now which I have not really had problems with in the past and it had a 3 year warentee.
  23. Do stainless steel heaters have better heat transmition than glass ones?
  24. What about the ViaAqua® Stainless Steel Heaters. They look pretty good and not too expensive. The fish survived the night .
