  1. Nothing much but only just put it in. 1 comet goldfish 2 bronze comets 2 tadpoles 1 bubble eye 2 snails I may have to sell some of the goldies when they get too big.
  2. I took my two favorite aquatic animals at the time and put them together. Unfortunately my axolotl died and I have a broader variety favourite fish.
  3. Why is that? Fingers crossed their southern bells. They were sold in Nelson so would there be a fairly good chance they are southern bells? Yes I have taped over them.
  4. We bought 4 tadpoles that are either southern or green and gold bell frogs. two are in out pond and seem to be doing fine and the other two are in a 30 litre aquarium/Paludarium. Is the tank going to be large enough for 2 adults 40 x 25.6 x 28 CM? Will the pond ones stay near the pond as frogs? What is the best food for the frogs? Any tips for the aquarium/Paludarium? Pic of tank: The water level will be lowered when they metamorph so hopefully the plants don't die.
  5. They are about 5cm long and we got them at a local pet shop. The pet shop had no idea what they were.
  6. Hello I have two of these tadpoles and I was wondering what sort they were thanks.
  7. Pet essentials in Richmond (Nelson region). They have a good variety of fish that are reasonably priced, do fnzas discount and are VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY friendly . I also like to get my fish at the down to earth garden center in Nelson as they have a large variety and seem to be the cheapest.
  8. Here are some pics: 150 litre aquarium. I think I will breed leopardfish in it. The pond. I put the netting up because the cat was looking very suspicious. My new goldfish
  9. These fish did not have any patterning on them.
  10. I saw what I assume was some sort of gourami at the pet shop today. They were only 3-4cm but they may have just been young. They looked kind of like Orange Thicklip Gourami but they had a bluish anal fin. Any idea what they were? There was no sign and all the staff were busy.
  11. Thanks, just a few more questions. Should I have a substrate in the pond? What type? Are our cats likely to catch the fish in it? If so is a net the only way to stop them? I can probably run some airline tubing to it for an air powered filter or airstone but probably can't use a power pond filter.
  12. Today I was given a 150 litre aquarium and an approx 120 litre plastic formed pond. I know lots about aquariums but don't have much pond or goldfish experience. I dug the pond in today and was planning on having 2-3 large goldfish in it. Would this be ok? Are fancy goldfish such as pompoms and fantails ok in a pond or should I stick to comets? Is a filter necessary? I am also going to keep the tank outside and was planning to breed some leopard fish (Phalloceros caudimaculatus) or wcmm in it. Both the tank and pond will be in the shade. Thanks. I will post pond pics up later.
  13. How big were his tanks do you know? as a larger tank would be less susceptible to temperature swings.
  14. Maybe I could add a whole lot of oxyweed and java moss and breed some wcmm and/or leopard fish (phalloceros caudimaculatus) in it.
  15. I am being given a 120cm long tank (unsure of other dimensions) and don't have room for it inside the house. I was wondering if it would be ok to set it up outside. I could build a stand out of wood and have a sloping lid to stop it overflowing when it rains. does anyone see any problems with my idea? What should I keep in it? I was thinking maybe inanga but don't know much about their requirements.
  16. Yes I know. Caryl was out our tank crawl and we could only fit about 4 people in my room at a time. Now thats overstocking.
  17. I have a 2ft (50 Litre) setup with 16 ember tetras and 3 otocinclus. Do you think it would be posible to add another larger fish to the tank? I was thinking maybe an Apistogramma Borelli or other small cichlid.
  18. What is the scientific name of blue hygrophila? Thanks
  19. Very nice, I used to have a silky bantam but she never layed. You usually have to comprimise between laying ability and looks when it comes to chickens.
  20. Yes they don't lay as mch as they get older and not usually in winter.
  21. Males are roosters Females are Hens both are chickens ours are hens.
  22. They are shaver chickens and we used to have some a while ago but they all died of old age. They are a very good laying breed, the last chickens eggs were so big they would not allow the egg carton to close. They already have names: Korma, Masala, Rogan and Vindaloo
