I want to get a light for my 2 foot tank. Nothing special does not have to be able to keep plants alive (although that would be good) just make the tank look nice. Currently I am using a 20watt desk lamp that just is not bright enough. What would you recommend (no more than $30 if possible). Thanks :bounce:

Ok I have a 50 litre with a half dose of wunder whitespot cure. It runs a dolphin H100 HOB filter at half power. If I add about half a cup of carbon in the filter How long will it take to remove the meds. Thanks :bounce:

Nelson has 3 petshops. Petz n all in town and Petmart and Pet essentials in Richmond but I like to get most of my fish at the Tahuna garden center (Down 2 Earth). They always has some interesting fish that I have never seen at the other shops (eels, chromides and a few less common danios etc). As others have said the Mapua touch the sea aquarium is also good and well worth the drive and natureland is great (still open) they had some good sized goldfish and a large fire eel last time I was there. :bounce:

OK I have a 50 litre aquarium with a sparkling gourami and 7 ember tetras. A few of the tetras have ich have raised the temperature to 30c and I brought some wunder whitespot cure. The wunder whitespot cure contains malachite green so should I do a 1/2 dosage as I read on some sites thats the best thing to do with tetras? thanks :bounce:

It is definitely a platy. I have 2 sunset platies that are the same shape. I hope it is already pregnant so I can get more that colour as all my other platies are females. :bounce:

The Neighbours brought me 4 fish for collecting their mail when they were away. I got 2 lemon tetras, 1 sunset platy and one other platy which she said was sold to her as a bumblebee platy. I did a google search for bumblebee platy and nothing came up so I think it may have been sold under the wrong colour name. It basically has the same colouring as a bumblebee gobie (not quite as uniform) and I was wondering: what is the correct name for this colour type? Thanks :bounce:

He did it again today. I asked for the last ember tetra and then he noticed it looked sick (I think it got squished under the castle it did not look contagiously sick or anything) so he gave me it free as well and now it seems fine. :bounce:

Seems like they are more likley to get stuck in a taped up bag than a non taped bag. I have seen a couple of stores with those aqua one bags with curved corners. :bounce:

I was bringing home a few ember tetras for my tank and the pet shop guy had taped up the bag corners. One of the tetras got stuck in one of the folds created by the tape and was looking very sick when he escaped so the shop gave me another one free. the sick looking one died a couple of days later. So Why do some petshops tape up the corners of the fish bag? And also currently I have 7 ember tetras and 1 sparkling gourami in my 30cmW by 30cmH by 60cmL aquarium (about 50 litres). I do weekly 25% water changes and it has a good HOB filter. How many more ember tetras could I add? Thanks :bounce:

In my math class at the end of the lesson sometimes we play a quick game where we all stand in a circle and the teacher will say a thing EG: types of fruit. Each person in the circle has to say a fruit and if you say something that has already been said or take to long you get out. Anyway the other day when we played it the teacher said types of fish. We went around in a circle and had the obvious blue cod, snapper, salmon etc but then every time it was my turn I would say something strange that people had not heard of and said a few long scientific names just to sound smart LOL. I would have won if the bell had not gone. I was surprised the teacher excepted whale, dolphin and to a lesser extent starfish and jellyfish. :bounce:
