    Rosy Barbs

nice pool caryl see that you got one that already has fishies on it LOL good luck. I have seen someone breed rosy bargs quite easily. just left them in a thank and soon had heaps
  4. Clown loaches do eat snails. I have had an infestation of snails in my tank but with 2 clown loaches I now only see a few snails at any one time. Great natural snail rid. 8)
  5. I second that. leave things as they are.
  6. I would not put any water in from your existing tank since you have been hit with whitespot. use your existing water supply. don't forget to put some water ager in it as well. the mountain minnows will be ok if you put them in straight away so you can get the cycling started. cycle will help as well. Get the heater in there soon too as this will get the water up to temperature and help with the bacteria.

I'll have to agree with breakaway in that a colour laser is the better way to go in the long run. I have seen a Konica Minolta for $799 but only if your budget could go and extra $300. then again you will get that back on consumables. happy hunting
  8. Welcome to the site Phil hope to meet up with you in the not so distant future. enjoy the site and come to the chatroom one day at 9pm
  9. Welcome Cath. Be prepared to catch MTS (Multiple Tank Syndrome) as Alan had mentioned we usually chat around 9.00pm where we talk about all sorts of things even fish occasionally  Any questions you may have just post it in one of the forums and I'm sure someone will be able to assist. happy browsing.
  10. I definitely know that double dose has no problems with Orandas, mountain minnows, port hoplos. Ive used it numerous times in my tank.
  11. Sorry CG Didn't Load for me either. but the red x's look nice
  12. Thanks for that Caryl, Alan & Kyle. One of the bn has started to show bristles and the other one I have seems to be growing rather slowly and is half the size as the male even though they were the same size originally. does this mean it could be a female?
  13. yes Kyle. the operative word is trying. any assistance would be appreciated. I am sure I have a male as the bristles are showing and the other I think is female as it is smaller even though they were the same size initially
  14. Any help would be appreciated. Do the males actually protect the eggs when laid? will he fend off guppies? I await answers
  15. Caryl I think you better add a Thesaurus as well. Not too sure they will understand edification if they can't understand Tropical
  16. I have a fluval 403 on a similar size tank and don't worry about it. works very well
  17. won't be long before you have hundreds
  18. I was down in Chch last week and only manged to get to 2 stores and they were Petworld on Ferry Rd and Organisms in Islam both did not have that much in the way of pretty guppies but Petworld did have a breeding pair of Turquoise Discus... Very nice. They may have something now though
  19. As with answers by andrew I agree that you will not lose much flow no matter how much hose you have. the only lose of flow I believe will occur in the cannister itself. If for instance you add in 2 lots of ceramic media and the sponges then you are going to have a much reduced flow than if you were to load up the canisters with only bioballs.
  20. with the lights off the water is of a greenish nature. all ph, amonia, nitrites are all withing reason. I just wanted to get rid of the greenness and the amount of nitrates and phosphates cause I have the Blue Green Algae
  21. Must be PMS. I am doing water changes every 3 days
  22. It did disappear after spawning but a week later it came back. and now its gone again but the other 4 have the spot again I have 5 females and 3 males
  23. so thats why it looks like that my guppies seem to be pregnant all the time
  24. Once one drops she wil be ready to drop again in 2 weeks if not earlier. all my guppies are onto their second lot and I have only had them for 3 weeks now.
