  1. hahaha imagine - "hey Mum, my fat mates put a huge hole in your lounge" But do you need a qualified builder to reinforce the floor? Don't know what you can and can't do now with the council regulations
  2. that's a BIG baby - OUCH Congrats!
  3. Our house is slighty raised by concrete (done to prevent flooding since we live next to a stream) - I think it's actually wooden floor on top if concrete but Mum's not convinced and no one's brave enough to climb under the house. thanks for the help :bounce:
  4. I had mine in circular bunches on big pieces of driftwood until the dwarf loaches got into them and loosened them all then I melted them all when I started using Flourish Excel
  5. What about a house built in the early 70's?? the floor's wooden...wanting to upsize but don't want to cause mum's floor to disappear
  6. I'm wanting to know at how litres is it recommended to have the flooring reinforced? Also - would a big (say 500/600L) tank designed for a corner need reinforcing?? And what's involved in reinforcing the floor and how much usually? I have no idea where to ask this question so Technical was the closest category I could think of. Cheers, Amy
  7. the good thing is with a 10L tank you'll only need like a 50W heater at the max or you can go smaller with a 25W...and they're cheap I read somewhere that guppies (along with quite a few other fish) are capable of changing sex? So either way you'll become an unexpected parent with heaps of little mouths to feed
  8. my Dwarf Chain loaches were doing that on top of vibrating next to each other but alas no eggs but plenty of gravid looking potential females
  9. I remember when Tracy covered her rocks with Riccia using a hairnet she said there was a whole lot of gunk all built up underneath it...
  10. Phoenix look for the brand Aquastar Sylvannia, I get it for really cheap at the local wholesaler and it gives off purple light...Anubia's growing like mad!
  11. up the temp to at least 30deg cel of your water and that should do it with a little bit of salt to cleanse...should do the trick. White Spot is more commonly caused by stress, too dramatic water temp change or sick fish...
  12. you could make it into a well planted nano with just one pair of dwarf cichlids..that would be mint
  13. yeah but how often the waterchange?? How's your tank now?
  14. Hey welcome! You go to Hutt Pets much? lol
  15. This little guy is from my last batch..everytime I count their numbers it fluctuates lol can't wait till their colours start coming through
  16. I think you'll always raise more when you take them away from their parents but the downside the weak ones aren't culled by their dad
  17. these little guys are sure getting bigger lol...you can even see the black in their dorsal fins now
  18. Tell me how things go with the new male - from what I remember he's bigger than the male from the original pair. You've got to update with photos of fry!
  19. sure thing it's just a slow work in process at the moment uni's a bit hectic
  20. we had to take our dog when she was a puppy to the vets a few times 'cos she wouldn't stop eating her own poo but then found out it was b'cos she knew pooing inside the house would get her in trouble so that was her way of cleaning up the evidence...
  21. thanks for that haven't added your lot to the main tank yet Ron, don't want to stress everyone out before the big renovation
  22. Hey, I'm thinking about ripping out the existing planted layout and adding new plants etc etc, but I noticed the last time I did a massive renovation two of my Discus went off food for ages and stayed to their corner. I know it wasn't worms 'cos I periodically worm everytime I get new fish. And now they've started feeding regularly now 'cos they're actually coming out which disrupted the new heirarchy..so now there's a new heirarchy system. I'm going to be moving/ripping things so wondering if this will cause an upset again? Or if even that was the reason that they went off their food in the first place?
