  1. contact him yourself he's Discusguru on the forum he's very friendly and I'm pretty sure he ships within NZ. Got 3 Discus from him recently and they're growing into quite nice fish.
  2. do you not use a heater? how do you keep the temp up?
  3. will be watching that thread in the cichlid section?
  4. are we talking about Blushing Angels or Peruvians? How much do these retail usually? I don't care if I have to raise them from juveniles. And what's a good number of these to keep 'cos they get a bit territorial too don't they? I'm not fussed as long as their finnage is perfect (MUST HAVE nice complete long fins )....maybe not leopards or marbles, like the more simplistic looking Angels. Who breeds what type of Angels on this forum?
  5. hahaha definately not getting anymore Cardinals (sold my 18 cardinals to JimR already).. Yes it was the Altum Vs Peruvian debucle (now that I'm recollecting)..but I have seen an amazing species tank of just Altums on an overseas tank decorating company's site (trying to imitate lol) Or even I was thinking those white Angels with pink cheeks in a tank with dark/black gravel and green Amazon swords? Those mono Angels look pretty cool too but don't see them for sale often
  6. yeah get rid of the neons - cardinals aren't that much more when you buy them in large numbers (PLUS side - Cardinals are WAY hardier too)
  7. lol really??? Your dwarf sags are WAY bigger than mine I wonder why that is?
  8. my last experience with guppies - bought home 7 (5 males and 2 females) ended up with 100s in the short year I had them had to continuously get rid of them. Plus I find livebearers annoying 'cos they clog up the filtration systems with their babies
  9. I thought most advertised as Peruvians aren't actually Peruvians but Scalares or something?? Would love to create a species tank for Angels with heaps of driftwood and branches...I'm thinking I'd be willing to spend at the most $20each for one small Angel if I'm to buy 8 of them (thought about doing a Discus tank with just one strain but that added up to be too much lol). Bear in mind I got to buy a new canister and lights etc...don't talk me into buying anything expensive Dave's on verge of cutting up my eftpos card What other fish could go with Angels?
  10. I'm thinking about converting my 200L grow out Discus tank into another planted tank, I'm thinking about getting say about 6/8 Angels (same type) and some loaches...and GBAs etc for house keeping. What other fish could I get that would suit this tank if I didn't want Angels? It's quite a deep tank (built to suit Discus previously). I'm not into small fish...suggestions PLEASE
  11. I see my Crypts arrived safely did you separate the plantlets? I've fully re-decorated my tank (minus a few more things) so now your dwarf val is getting way more light Told you those lights were magnificent! I've got four tiger lotuses now from the original two I bought from Evil_Elmo
  12. snap got one of these babies from Ron too in my main tank! Are you going to keep them in a bare bottom tank or will you be moving them into a planted tank? They're beautiful - have always thought about starting up a second Discus tank with just multiples of one strain.
  13. I don't know if it's recommended but I always did my store-bought fish in wonder tonic for 5mins (to get rid of what parasites/micros that could be hitching a ride) before they get scooped up and released into my Discus tank - I figured I can sacrifice a few little fish to too much medication if that means keeping my Discus tank disease free. So far it's looked like a charm without casualties
  14. Lindyloo - I have them but mine doesn't take to them, you could have my container full of it if I find them lol they're in a box of miscellaneous fish things
  15. inbreeding/chance causes genetic defects to show more often...luck of the draw
  16. I'm just curious b'cos I read here and there people fed their Beardys either Cat Food or Dog Food? Is it safe for them? Nutritional? Heard that cat food was used in a project to catch little Tuatara hatchlings in a research from a lecture as well.
  17. looks like the Indian Ferns I used to have
  18. buy some mealworms and feed them up and breed from them - they're cheap enough to buy and vibrating dishes work well since mealworms don't move very fast to tempt some beardys or plan b) go catch your own bugs our Beardy loves tunnelweb spiders and cicadas
  19. my stepdad does the same - he keeps goldfish to water his plants lol
  20. hey these people should be grateful that they even have a job in the recession
  21. what kind of tubiflex? freeze dried? I've had no luck still got a huge container left 'cos mine won't touch it
  22. agree with Warren - I bought 20 cardinals (small size) a while ago and now only 18 survivors lol and definately no bodies found so I know they didn't die of diseases
  23. I got told by a former vet who worked with Animates (Lower Hutt) that they get the puppies and kittens in for virtually nothing that's why I was extremely peeved of when I paid $1500 for my pup who had all these defects that they never told me about!
  24. almost tempted to buy them just b'cos they look so uncomfortable!
  25. I found my Chain loaches took a while (a month ot two) to dent the snail infestation due to their smaller size so I added a couple of Zebra loaches which helped A LOT
