  1. !drool: Killed my fish even though people said the weird white force field like thing was harmless.
  2. No, but you do need good lights, filtration, ferts and CO2.
  3. Thanks! Key to my tanks are the lights. While you don't need to invest in plant pros ($120+ a tube!); powerglos are a necessity. Once you have the powerglos you can add more light at a later date, and be less picky about the colour and do 6500K or 10000K or similar. Then comes ferts, CO2 and filtration. 4100LPH of filtration (each filter has a different use) on my 200 odd litre tank. If I was up where you guys are, I would have happily come over and set up a tank or 10
  4. No, I do not use any undergravel heating. Just lots of undergravel ferts.
  5. IKR! :happy1: It's pretty awesome!
  6. VERY VERY BAD. don't listen to KP. I can dispose of it much much better and faster. Send it to me.
  7. Too expensive, and not really needed.
  8. I don't agree with that Jen, but it's about time we disagreed about something.
  9. awesome. They were quite frisky the day you picked them up. Must be all that live food. They went mad over mossie larvae.
  10. I had them in my african tank. I gave them away when I was done keeping malawis. They are a nice fish!
  11. or you could use your keyboard like a normal person.
  12. There is a bookshop in palmy - Volume 1. They sometimes have second hand books; but if the edition is new then there is no choice.
  13. how do you keep getting these worms?
  14. A 6ft tank and a Fluval CO2 kit? That's a waste of money. 1. It's going to work out too expensive in the long run. 2. Those units are no where near big enough for a 6ft tank. I'd be returning that if I were you. One of the first questions you must ask your self when you get a CO2 unit is - "how big is my tank?". Those fluval units are only good if used on tanks say 100L or thereabouts. With a 6ft tank, you have flow and length issues to deal with as well. Apart from that, you do not need bubbles in the tank. Not unless they are CO2 bubbles. Post some pics so we can actually visualise what the tank looks like.
  15. Its no different to green cabomba going red in tanks like mine. lots of light + nutrient. I suppose the intensity of the lighting is more important I guess.
  16. you add the additive, but there MUST be a source of food for the bacteria. In this case either put some cheap fish, ammonia or a shrimp or something in there. No amount of stress zyme / cycle will cycle a tank without a source of ammonia. Those products merely speedup the process.
  17. you would use it in a marine to control the nutrients in the water. Algae in a reef is a billion times worse than in a FW tank.
  18. I shove it at the back of the tank and keep it living. ill have a scrounge around tomorrow and see what I find  hahaha
  19. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=45754&p=497206&hilit=glandulosa#p497206 order macrandra from animates
  20. It is easy to get more if you lose it, so don't stress Mine does well in 30C. I got it from animates as some mislabelled rubbish
