  1. no but when you smell the water in the reactor once you want to change it smells and looks like beer.
  2. I dont think ill ever forget the noise migrane for 7 daysflat. I was so happy to see the other lorikeet go back! Took me a month to rectify all of rustys bad behaviours! (bad behaviour being not obeying commands).
  3. search me... lol.... Pharmacy? I haven't needed to buy it just yet.
  4. its pathetic how the law is applied selectively. Honestly.. if you can afford frogs like that - would you really chuck them in the wild? bit like introducing red aros in the local rivers really - No one is stupid enough to do it... and those that can afford them are smart enough not to introduce to our native eel friends. There is no way they would survive in the wild - but NO! its ok to have cockatoos flying around the place cause they aren't deemed a large enough threat. But a thousand odd dollar frog that would never make it in winter cause its cold blooded is far too much of a threat. I mean what does genetics show right? Tragic.. and im sorry for your loss. those frogs were awesome.
  5. i agree with living art. ive had many birds that we got in pairs or more - but the lorikeet is one bird that will have to be alone. ive had a few different ones stay with rusty for varying time spans, and oh my god! never again. although they are friendly and all - the noise, makes me want to put a bullet in my head or throttle the birds, lol... its not worth aye - that and all the training in the world goes straight out the door when another lorikeet comes in... its terrible. did i mention the noise? *shudders.
  6. what a dude! good on you bulldogod, the beardies look awesome!
  7. hmm.. i havent heard of it leaking colour. have you tried tetra colour bits?
  8. well i think they are v beautiful and you are truly lucky to have come so close to such a magnificent species! PS - the pics are real nice too
  9. nICE. it looks like the nutrafin CO2 thing is hanging inside the tank - is that so?
  10. I agree 100% Ive had A LOT of discus and a 2.5ft Aro all in the same tank, so it does come down to a lot more than the big eats small scenario. Tank size plays a huge role when it comes to fish compatibility. Dominique: If you tell us the dimensions of the tank, and what sort of fish you had your eye on, we can share our experiences (and opinions) with you. I hope this helps.
  11. the swift flies the fastest. the Peregrine can dive the fastest. diving is just falling with style
  12. they usually cost about $5 for lille wee fish, and 20 for adults... course more expensive in the shops.
  13. those buffalo heads are awesome! you just gots to have them in a tank like that! lol
  14. Welcome to the forums! :bounce: put your location in your profile so all of us know where you are from etc etc.. and so local help can be given when/if needed. This is an awesome place!

    blue ram

the babies wil get some if you feed them on that... its probably the best food for them too... liquifry for egglayers is also a good food - but you have to buy it. and if you have micro and bbs just use that and see how it goes. you can put the babies in annother tank if you like and rear them in there.
  16. whoa! that's fantastic! is the plant on the ground glosso? Tank look great!

    blue ram

they initially eat their eggs. then they start taking care of their young... mine have taken care of their young all the way to adulthood... no fights, no dominance issues etc. i usually let them eat as many batches as they want. then the batch that isnt eaten is usually the strongest batch.
  19. really? that's weird... the dominant male usually goes that colour, and if another male is in the same tank, it normally fades a little - but definitely has a blue body too. V weird. post a pic of yours if you can source a cam.
  20. thank you for your kind words =) that pic shows a male bolivian ram with long, flowing fins, and a female with short stubby fins.... although females can get longer fins, it is less common, and they are plainer than the males. The steel blues are in the same tank as the Bolivians, and a heap of other fish - and yes the steel blues are relatively common now in shops and are among the easiest to order in because of the sudden interest by hobbyists.
