  1. now that is pwnage. its like an unscoped headshot.. (im sorry if no one understands what i just said)
  2. help is what we are here for.... dunno what i would do without all the advise i have received from members on here. see how he goes first... u can add a little salt in the water when you top up but it isn't necessary.... if he is better, and your fish have been doing well without salt then you dont really need it.
  3. strictly speaking yes... but i never do, and have not had any negative effects as a result of this. this is possibly because i never add the exact dosage ie 2 tsp or more per liter. iJust chuck some in, and the fish play with it - and it dissolves pretty fast - there is a lot of current in the tank.
  4. i use rock salt or aquarium salt, and not the normal table salt.... some ppl say that iodised salt is fine for the aquarium - but i dont use it... better off using rock salt. in 286L id add a handful + a bit more or so of that stuff... I dont do accurate measurements .. sorry. but dont add something like 2tsp per liter - you only want to stimulate the slime coat to grow back. If anyone thinks im mistaken im sure they will correct me.
  5. yeah.. he did the first time round... was completely covered in it... so i did water changes every day..(50%).. and i went though stress coat like it grew on trees... also medicated the tank with acriflavine and quinine so no infections would take hold.... it worked in the end... he died a year later cause of some weird mystery disease that I still haven't been able to figure out..
  6. dont drop it in the tank, that's all lol...
  7. nahh not with the ghosts... the exact same thing happened to my ghost... down to the tee... they are quite sensitive to flourish - but if you used the tiniest amount of flourish then it may indicate that his slime coat had deteriorated before hand for some reason.
  8. Best way to know is to go into your LFS with some of this tap water and get it tested. If the levels are high (and i know absolutely nothing about the type of water in the different councils), then you could use phoszorb.. just remember to activate it before you put it in your filter - this is done by filling up the jar it comes in with water and closing it with the pouch in it. Hope this helps.
  9. LOL. you have got to be kidding! PS - some of those comments are hilarious "XD nice eels doest it ever attack -.^ awesome id want one in my backyard but im too scared itll kill me XP" "It, it will swim in your urinating hole" "Uhhmm.... I thought Id just let you kno, This could be a new speices if they are NO other eels in yer ''garden you speak of''
  10. call it pedro  I call everything pedro.
  11. water changes...a lot of water changes. and a small quantity of salt. do not add 2 table spoons per litre, or a standard measure like that. a small quantity will suffice. stress coat helps too. keep those filters running. do the white patches resemble a chemical burn... caused by say an overdose of flourish"?
  12. rochelle: take good note of this... do water changes. now and everyday for the next 5 days. flourish if used in excess - or if it causes chemical burning to your fish is about the worst thing that can happen. the fins fraying is the first sign of how terrible the chemical can be if not used in the perfect amount. hopefully your situation does not progress into any thing worse... i myself have lost more than a thousand dollars worth of fish in a single go last year cause of an accidental overdose.
  13. yeah.. now that you mention it.. i was reading about it online...they can live for a very long time! wouldnt have thought so.
  14. there's also fishkeepers (nz), badmans, fishgeeks..... all cool sites.
  15. they are soo cool looking... i didnt even feed it to my fish. it was so friendly. it just sat on my finger and kept coming back every time i let it go, lol cicada huh? ill remember that Ira; i thought there must have been a link between a circadia, and circadian rhythms. look at its eyes though. they are so awesome.
  16. could set it up through outlook or gmail or something....
  17. Thanks Mark. Dixon -I have no idea what it is. lol.. got told it was a circadia? found it this morn in the front yard when the bird (rusty) was chasing insects.
  18. ok so its not as macro as the other pics on here, but i thought it was cool never-the-less. 8)

    MOVING

i moved my 4 ft with all the gravel (40-50kg) in it... the new house was about 2k away.. it went smoothly.. i just shifted the gravel to each end of the tank, so the load in the center was minimised.... least i think it was lol... the glass at the base is 8mm - 10mm
  20. cause i can  ... i want more clown loaches. im down to 9 i think. and i need to have 12 in the tank.. then there's the blue rams i want... and the elephant nose fish... and some more kribs... so a second filter though im sure is not needed; will be useful as. ive always wanted "nitrazorb" in the cannister along with bio chem zorb... and the filter was half price, so was only like 200and some thing dollars, and i can pay it off in however long i like. more filtration is always better lol... even if this is overdoing it... slightly. ha ha..
  21. oh! wow... i learn something new everyday! :bounce: my loaches just got those spots one day and they never left! i used to think something was going wrong with them but 2 years on they are still going strong so i just presumed it happened to some of them lol... Thanks david! if it helps i usually only get the clown loaches with the V pattern on them. I used to have one with a v v v dark circle like a blotch of paint - but that loachie died a while ago when the mystery illness hit the tank.
  22. ive got 3 with spots. they just grew it... do you know what they are? lol are they special?
  23. yes..yes... it was a tiny factor that i overlooked. I think caper, it is time for you to come to NZ.
  24. and that sale is of no use to you seeing you are not in NZ  sorry, lol..
