I still think that the "pretty pecklotias" are indeed panaque maccus. After looking at everyone else's fish and then after getting some myself, looking at the juvi colours and pattern, teeth, mouth etc. I am even more certain of it.

just got a little more complicated. i am near certain that these are clowns, not pecklotias.

nah. its the pigment. the amount of melanin being produced is exactly the same, so in a small fish it appears to be a small dot that is dark. as the fish ages and grows larger the amount of melanin produced is the same and as the cells push further apart to make room for more cells - it appears as the dot has faded. what it is in reality is hundreds of thousands of cells in a group that contain the pigment.

ok so i lied then. this flower took a lot longer to flower than I expected. This is what I found a few moments ago. congo fern flower from that sword.

This is one of them today. They eat well and are happy as can be. there is a marked improvement in the body shape, and they are now fatter too. What say you?

yeah, you need more than JUST blue. you can run a blue light in conjunction with other spectra, and that will encourage flowering.

That is a beautiful fish. Are they expensive? (i.e. more expensive than normal CL's?)
