  1. Here's some good pics I got last night.
  2. how do you guys get these things?
  3. ha ha you don't want to give me tools, l'll break everything and blame it on cheap tools. I can however do tanks. (I have no tools) except for my hands which are more crafty than any tool these other two have
  4. Don't DIY your substrate if this is your first attempt at a planted tank. use JBL aquabasis or flourite or even daltons propogating sand with JBL balls and you will get great results if you lighting is adequate and correct. Nutrient in the soil isn't going to do the plants any good if they do not have enough light, or the appropriate light spectrum.
  5. come to palmy with the tank and hard plumbing, ill set it up and then you can take the whole lot back with you.... or not..
  6. how big is the tank they are in?
  7. 10000K are like 40 bucks at most. HO that is. 18000K is $64 or so. comprehensive is about $20? I dont know what the naked HO systems are worth.
  8. Ive been there heaps. Don't ever go back there in a hurry that's for sure. I mean most people find it fun - its just not my sort of fun... its too busy, too hot, too humid. Depends on what you like really, the beaches are nice in the evenings, the food is pretty cool if you eat the local stuff from a small shack on the beach.
  9. youll get better results under 10000K
  10. hhahaha. dont strain the eyes sam. aqua you are welcome to come see the tank if you are ever up this way.
  11. could not resist one last pic. took it with my phone so its not the best, but this fish is one of my fav now. but i say that about all the plecos in my tank
  12. if you want red plants, get an 18000K. if you want ferns, swords and green plants, 10000K. a combination of 18000K powerglo (only) and a 10000K provides great results. I use 2 18000K powerglos and 2 10000K T5HO's.
  13. At $3800 you will be diving right into it. but then once you get started you will sell the tank and get a normal tank and separate components. that will cost you closer to the $4000 mark and then youll be happy with what you have until you figure you could just get a tank that is slightly larger, few more corals.....
  14. me? sorta has to be me as im the only one from that store on here. you can get all of those plants here except the Pogostemon stellatus. wallichi is sold as red pine over here. common as hell in AKL.
  15. I like predictive. basically you press # and cycle through what you want.
  16. they probably won't like the salt but knowing trumpets they will survive. good thing is they won't survive for long with puffers
  17. fish; even the non aggressive ones will eat the gut and eyes once the fish is dead. it could have died cause of any thing really.
