  1. My ornate will eat just about anything small enough to swallow including live fish. Should eat any sinking food including frozen foods and ox heart.
  2. I stand corrected. I was led to understand that temperature did have an influence on sex of the young lizards, both by the breeder I got mine from (and mine do seem to be a pair) and it is also mentioned in "The Bearded Dragon Manual" though temperature is not the complete answer. At temperatures ranging from 82 F to 86 F a larger percentage of males are produced at the cooler end of the scale. I do not know personally as mine are yet to breed.
  3. They may all have come from one breeder and since sex is determined by temperature then it would be quite easy for this to happen.
  4. Tropical tank with mixture, also onate bichir, newts, turtles and eastern bearded dragons
  5. My BD will chase my hand around if I offer dandelion flowers they love them.
  6. Make sure you have a lid on your tank as they jump even thru smallish gaps. I have a small gap about 2cm x8cm where my filter fits thru and my marble hatchets jumped out of it. expensive mistake.
  7. Welcome from another Gisborneite.
  8. I would agree. I breed them. Pretty common in NZ.
  9. Probably a cross. Original sailfin mollys were Poecilia velifera (Yucatan sailfin molly) http://www.google.com/search?q=%22Poeci ... lz=1I7DVXA should give you plenty of links and images.
  10. I have a pair coming up to a year old, not sure when they will start breeding.
  11. Probably a shag as they swim and could chase fish under the deck. Happened to me , all that were left were the fish too big for it to handle. Found shag drying its wings out on our deck.
  12. Mine eat live food but just as happy taking ox heart or some of the bottom feeder fish food including crumble.
  13. They hunt at night for sure. Mine did. He now lives with my Reeves turtle. They have given up trying to eat each other. I throw in a few leopard fish occasionally to give them a change.
  14. Not the best in a fish pond tho
  15. I had a similar problem except the bird was black and loved to swim - a shag. Ate most of my fish. Also had the odd visiting kingfisher.
  16. It means if we are not happy with what they have sggested then we have got till the 31st of January to voice our own alternative suggestions. I am guessing that the Grandfather clause means if you already legally have certain birds and lizards you will be able to continue owning them. Personally if you had the more endangered species I would think it would be a good idea to be in a breeding programe if they dont make it too hard to get involved in one. I dont know if they will ever let you keep tuatara but if you do prove successful in breeding programes then they may permit you to take on other species.
  17. Not much in the way of pet shops that I can think of but this may help. http://yellow.co.nz/search.ds?what=Pet+ ... earch=true
  18. No heating is necesary. they live happily in an outdoor pond year round, tho not much breeding during winter. Of course it is not as cold here in the winter.
  19. I am sure you didnt mean it quite like that

    Plecos

I noticed there is a collection of fancy plecos listed on that site today for those wanting some different ones.
  21. Male. They tend to have the unshaven look.
  22. Did you get my PM I sent last week. Heard no response.
  23. I peel off the fat then freeze. When I need some for fish I just use serated potato peeler. Easy.
  24. Could try feeding roaches to water dragons. My bearded dragons love them. Ripcord sprayed around the outside of the house maybe alright but no guarantee.
