  1. Something new in leopard geckos. http://www.leopardgecko.com/future-projects And his setup http://www.geckotime.com/interview-with ... dgeckocom/
  2. I dont want to start an argument here but there are at least some that believe the GBA is a different species to the normal.
  3. Would make sense if the albino is an albino normal rather than albino GBA. :bounce:
  4. Besides I dont think ducks go well in a fish tank
  5. Have plenty. They breed well in water around 18 degrees.
  6. Eastern bearded dragons need less heat than the other bearded dragons, but are less docile, but I believe they are easier to handle than the water dragons. Just my opinion as I only have eastern beardeds at the moment. :bounce:
  7. Might have to, they may need some educating. My biggest dragon has the wider head, darker beard, more dominant, but under the tail says female :-?
  8. I understand that the eastern Bearded dragon is happy at lower temperatures, are hardier and able to take higher humidity than the other species. Facts sheet excellent so far. Though my dragons do not seem to agree with the sexing details at the moment.

There seems to be more than one variety on the market. Some of you say they eat only plant material and algae while others say they only eat meat. I have seen similar comments in books and on the net when I was researching them. I have bought 3 and from those 3 there are 2 distinct colour types. The big ones being diferent colours. They are 10cm if you do not include the thin whips. I bought them as Royal whip tails. One of the big ones looks the same as Phils. THe ones I have all enjoy algae chips and algae on plants.
  12. Only egg this time. Have an incubator for hatching tho it will take a while, as they can take up to three months to hatch. Did find another egg but it was only about a third the size and it was in the bottom of the pond. :bounce: :bounce:
  13. Had never seen the eggs before so I was surprised at shape too.As to more time will tell. Usually 3 -9 eggs.
  14. I use a ceramic heat bulb for mine in the winter during the day but it is surrounded with bricks on sides and on top with a felt pad on top to make sure that they cant get burned, tho there is no real risk of that. The bulb is on a timer which is turned on and of regularly. I have eastern dragons that do not need so much heat and they are kept in a glasshouse and bought inside at night. The felt pad on top of the bricks also absorbs heat from the sun during the day as it is black. By the way my dragons behave I would say they can feel the heat under them by the way they flatten themselves against against the felt on cooler days.
  15. I see one has sold, just one left. The price is acceptible to someone. I would love a pair but out of my range at the moment.
  16. There is one point I havent seen mentioned and that is reptiles and amphibians kept at zoos. If the zoos have had them for a number of years presumably without any problem diseases and have had success breeding them , then maybe they should be allowed to sell them to the public, as long as they are not a realistic risk to our wildlife 0f course. Makes sense to me but I may be missing something. (I am not including natives in this group).
  17. Delt with him before no problems. Member name is Mincie
  18. I use weat germ, oatmeal and yeast flakes and I put in thin slices of apple for moisture, a little a couple of times a week. Just enough for them to consume. They get very sluggish when cold so perform better when warm.
  19. Looks sad. You need to get him a mate so maybe an even bigger tank
  20. They do not change till they reach a certain size. They might not be ready to change yet. What are you feeding them?
  21. Dont know about Auckland but here you can be prosecuted for removing mosquito fish from the wild or for keeping them. (It does make sense to make use of them tho) I have often heard of them being used as feeders for larger fish. I keep leopard fish and use excess for feeders for my ornate bichir. They live and thrive in my turtle pond which is heated to about eighteen degrees.
  22. I tried adding a small one in with a medium size one but the small one got bullied so I took it back to the shop. I would suspect that there may be problems of two on one. Sometimes it could be territorial. Changing the tank around putting in the new one for a little while then adding one of the old ones then the next day adding the other one may work. I have never tried it but would be interested in knowing how you get on as I have one and interested in getting more. Good luck.
  23. I have a Royal and he seems to be happy just grazing algae off the plants gave him some spirulina discs but he ignores them. I understand that some types of whiptail are vegetarian while others prefer bloodworms etc. I have had mine for about four weeks and he seems to be happy.
  24. sssshhhhhhhhhhhhh not even loud whispers. 8) 8) 8)
