Thanks Luke. Never had the luck with the Rummynose's as you did . Had plenty of spawn but never raised any to maturity. Thanks myfishybuisness... I hope she continues to be a good mum and not decide to have a munch!

All good so far... Mum Apisto is very protective of her eggs (maybe 50 to 60). Mr Apisto stays well clear. Eggs look about ready to hatch

Maybe Hamilton Water? as I use no filtration.... Fed on Frozen blood worms, and recently.. live bloodworms and live daphnia. I have them on a chest of drawers that my kids are going in and out of.... (I have 7) and they don't seem to have been put off.... I know I would have been put off with the opening of all those drawers....

Good on you Joe!. They are a nice fish... I have them in with some rummy nose's which the female is harassing.... I may pull them out and leave the male in for a bit. Pics to come soon...

The photo doesn't do him justice. The blue sheen is awesome and he really looks the part when he is flaring at the female. (I hope it is a female as Antwan has put some doubt in my mind :dunno: )

They had four... Three looked definite males and hopefully the one I grabbed was a female. They were $42 each but I would have paid more...

Just got a pair of these from LFS. :happy1: They also had Hongsloi in store but budget didn't stretch that far. Will post a pic once they have settled in.

Well done in getting your fry to the free swimming stage Condition them up and they should spawn again in another couple of weeks. You can choose to leave the fry with the adults or you can try siphoning them off to another tank. Good luck

Thanks Livebearer . I am currently conditioning my females, although 1 is in confinement after it suffered an injury (possibly while I was trying to catch her) but appears to be healing well. Can you tell me what the usual amount of egg produced from 1 female in a single spawning? Thanks.

I have 1 Rummy fry :lol: I think the other eggs got eaten prior to hatching due to my poor setup.... :roll: Alanmin4304, where do you source the stainless steel mesh?

I was just reading this warning. As Sunbird said, better safe than sorry. And they say the first wave may not be the biggest.. due to hit at around 8.52am. Keep safe!
