I used to work for a large goldfish breeder and we used to collect it and put it in a blender and feed it back to the fish. It worked well and was a good supplement to their diet.

The owner of Braeside Aquaria in Te Aroha used to breed these fish but the spawnings were small but he did produce some nice coloured fish. He is a wholesaler and doesnt usually sell to the public but you could inquire.

These spots are normal on a male that is ready for breeding.

Last night my fighters spawned and the male collected about 50 eggs and placed them in his bubble nest. I removed the female and an hour or so later I turned the tank light off. This morning I checked to find only about 10 eggs left. Is it best to keep the tank light on so he can tend to the eggs until the fry hatch? He has since eaten all the eggs!

Yeah she did got the horizontal lines. Ihave another smaller female and this female is way bigger than her, as big as my male.

so she could still be a female? the nest is only small and when I have put her in with the male she turns pale and becomes submissive. She is constantly flaring at he male in a nearby tank?

This so called female that i bought from a local pet shop turned out to be a male as he has just blown a bubble nest!. I swear one morning I checked on my large male and her(him) she had verticle bars on the body????

Hi all. My female fighter has recently started showing a more prominant white egg tube and occassionally flares at a male in a tank opposite. Do I have to wait for her to get the verticle bars before I place her in with the male which has recently blown a bubble nest? Cheers.

I have been feeding her up on all sorts of live insects. She seems to love jumping spiders!

Yeah he is nice. Picked him up from the pet shop just the other day. Courier arrived with a new lot of fighters while I was there so got the pick of the bunch. Got a real nice female that i will put a pick of tomorrow.

Hi I have recently purchased a veil tail male fighter and over the first 24 hours he seemed fine but now all he wants to do is swim fast from one end of the tank to the other. Is this normal?

I removed her overnight as she was quite badly chewed up. Shall I risk putting her back in so soon or wait till her fins regrow? Thanks.

Hi, I have a crowntail male who has blown a bubble nest and when i release the female in with him he seems keen initially and so does she but then she takes fright and all he wants to do is attack her. They are both of breeding age (about six months) and the female has the white egg tube showing and vertical banding. Is it possible they are just not compatible?
