  1. yummy! what lense did you use?
  2. my understanding is that the amount of waste generated makes it kind of tough on the axies then again I seem to remember Napier aquarium having a huge axie/goldie setup
  3. +1 move the whole box. I have had some success doing that at night, with a sock over the girl's head so she cant' see where she's going. The problem you may find is when they get off for a poo they get confused and go back to the old nest site so you have to supervise their first few trips off the nest to make sure they get back to the right place.

  5. turns out those kittens have a blog of sorts http://www.cpl-wellington.org.nz/NewsDetail.aspx?id=67&CategoryID=8
  6. "Oliver" and "Twist" were taken in by CPL and are doing well despite their mutilations, is my understanding
  7. are his scales kind of sticking out like a pinecone? and has he pooped recently?
  8. I have a really really good one, came with 4 interchangeable blades.... cost $5 at an import shop
  9. I love that the president said 'jackass'. He should probably say it more often
  10. ekk how did you disinfect the daphnia? There was loads of tubifex at the plant I worked at but I don't think I would have been game lol
  11. Awwwww I want an eclectus the boys look like they need a pirate to sit on
  12. how bout dwarf gouramis? honeys or dwarves or sparklings or croakings or thicklipped. There are some very colourful strains of honeys and thicklippeds and dwarves in particular and they have a lot of personality
  13. I can't remember asking if you have done this but how about asking the local educational institutes to send some ecology students to see if there are any rare/threatened species, flora or fauna, in there. There are some orchids and things like that that live in swamps that are super rare. If you get the right people they will kick up a huge stink
  14. Paul B used to have a few, I think he still does. His looked real pretty in a community tank
  15. +1 I worked at a sewage treatment plant and people who are careful about washing their hands and avoiding hand to mouth/face contact seldom get sick. Some modern habits are unhelpful in this regard for example not many people think to wash their hands before smoking, chewing gum or eating takeaways.
  16. I don't do lovebirds myself but when I introduce cockatiels I completely rearrange the imcumbent's cage to disrupt its sense of territory and put the new one in a cage close by so they can look at each other and get used to the idea. You have to quarantine anyway so it might as well serve some purpose in their introduction
  17. Put her in there with the male, when she is well and truly gravid put her in an isolation thingie in the tank to save the bubbas from the angels.

    I have discovered...

I bet their road signs get stolen all the time, like Muff Road does
  19. I prefer sheep. They have an excellent fertilizer spreader as standard.
  20. is it a little girl or a little boy? can we name it?
  21. I think the definition of HM is the tail has an angle of 180 degrees or more so that would make them both delta although the top one is superdelta, or HM if it can fan out just a *little* more
  22. the thing that bothers me is... they had had whitespot and so I said "what if they get sick and keel over tomorrow" and the guy brushed me off and didn't mention that they won't guarantee/refund. He ended up seeing one of the sick fish as I was bringing one of the males back to switch for a female (they didn't have any anyway) when it got sick, and he said it must have gotten sick from transportation. That could have been a possibility, but I drive carefully and it only had to go down the motorway so no bumps, but the other was dead in the tank when I got home. They should have at least been upfront that they don't refund given that I asked specifically about it.
  23. ooo firefish you need some angels you can call Buffy and Angel
  24. I have a very nice scar on one of my fingers from a glass-cutting mishap. I cut the glass real well, just sliced my finger before I ground it smooth. My scar looks like a staple the silly doctor made a bad call not to suture it so it's a bit odd looking. Second the call for a scar/injury thread. Show us your war wounds! PS I suggest you claim to all-comers that it was one of your fish that bit the top of your finger off
