    Dropsy?

Is Dropsy the only thing that would cause the "pinecone effect" I have a harlequin Rasbora that is looking like a pinecone, he/she seems happy otherwise, swimming normally and eating I was horrified to read in another thread that it can be caused by too many blood worms?
  3. Peoples choice would be a great idea, maybe that could be run along-side the POTM in December? I don't think I am going to be able to enter as I need to grow out the 50 odd BN in my small tank lol before I can start
  4. awww he is so cute He looks a lot like the budgie we got for our grandson, he named it rainbow But... If he was my budgie I would name him after one of the characters from ice age cos of the blue and white colouration. so maybe manny or scrat lol
  5. LOl I know he wants attention He just happens to want it when I am busy like on the phone or something lol He will sit pretty well but we have to have all the doors etc shut when he is out and about just in case. More so because we also have a cat and a dog Will try some new toys. Thanks Phoenix He has cockatiel seed mix from the pet shop in his cage at all times, he gets something for breaskfast every morning, ususally what ever cereal my son is eating or a piece of wholegrain toast then during the day when I have lunch he gets a snack (usually some greenery) and most nights he has dinner with us and chooses what he wants from our plates  after that he snacks on what ever we are snacking on in from of telly at night lol Did I mention he is a fat little pig
  6. He dosen't screech when he is sitting on any of us, just talks non stop lol Hello echo, hello echo, kiss kiss echo, scratch echo lol
  7. It is attention seeking behaviour lol If I leave the lounge/kitchen/dining area, which is open plan and where his cage is. He squawks nonstop until I come back. Or if we are in the area and haven't let him out of his cage to play with us he starts. LOL he even tells himself to shut up and then continues to squawk! We have tried taking him and his cage to the spare room as punishment but it works while he in in there, as soon as we let him back out he starts again. He has been doing it for the last couple of months
  8. sounds fun, I have a ar126 that I can use but I have baby BN's in there at the mo so hopefully they will be gone by the time this gets organised and underway If so, I'm in
  9. Awww pretty bird Mark Sam, I have one of Marks birds, a cocktiel. I recommend a trip to Tauranga to check out Living Arts awesome home and pick the cute budgie up P.s. Mark, how the heck do I teach echo not to scream all the time LOL he never shuts up! Worse than the kid
  10. Awesome gannet! Congrats to you and Mrs Gannet
  11. Looking good Morcs, Looking forward to seeing it with plants and fish added
  12. Noticed last night that the eggs have become wrigglers Already a few have escaped Dad's careful gaze lol about 4 that I can see spread around the tank. Went and bought some pantyhose today and put some over the filter intake
  13. That is pretty cool Is it a flowerhorn?
  14. lol Excuse me for being excited  Thanks Mark They sure are Bit worried now though, moved Dad and the eggs to a seperate tank and he hasn't found them yet. Hope he does soon, has only been a few minutes. There is good water flow where I put them though so if worst comes to worst they should be ok
  15. Thanks Sam. I have driftwood and plenty of courgette on hand She has finally stopped laying and he is doing a great job of fanning the eggs. She is at the other end of the tank resting up lol
  16. It is a little ar126, 22 litre, have a few guppies in there at the mo that could be shifted to the big tank. Will see how they go over night, will have to chuck a heater in the little tank to heat it up anyway cos the guppies are not heated. They are in a pretty good hidey hole now but once they are free swimming it could be a problem I guess. I am not even sure how long it will take for them to become free swimming. These the the first egg laying fish I have ever bred lol
  17. Thanks I did wonder about that but I am worried if I disturb him he may not care for the eggs anyway. The only other tank I have available is too small to grow them out in any way so may just have to go with survival of the fittest this time There is a new tank in the pipeline so maybe next time they breed I can rescue them all
  18. I am sitting here watching my Bristlenoses lay eggs for the first time ever! Got the male quite some time ago for my female and they have looked like they hated each other the whole time, today I noticed that they looked like they were getting a little freaky lol Just got home from picking my son up from school and they are in a little pile of rocks and she is laying whilst he is fanning lol soooooo cute Haven't done anything to bring it on, only thing different is that I added a large severum to the tank a few weeks ago. Since then the males bristles have grown really quickly and now the eggs. unfortunately the eggs are not in a spot that is going to be easy to photograph but hey I don't care lol COS I HAVE EGGS!
  19. Cool, that is why I love this place There is always some one to ask, no matter what the fishkeeping topic is
  20. Thanks Romeo, nice looking tank What concerned me when I lifted the lid on the tank I saw in the shop yesterday was the lights being so exposed, I am use to aqua one and aqua one style tanks that have plastic or something over the lights. Any thoughts on this?
  21. Thanks for your replies, Will try and find some that I can go and look at. I am interested in the hexy mega, but have only seen the rectangular shaped tanks up here
  22. Doe any one have these tanks? Just wondering how they are? I am looking at getting one but I have never seen the brand before so wondered what they were like. Any advice appreciated. Thanks
  23. I had a male fighter for a while, he sucked 1 eye out of one of my harlequin rasboras and beat the crap out of 1 of my leopard danios In the morning he woukd sit there looking all pretty and innocent! GRRRR he went straight back to where he came from. So no they don't just attack those they think are a thread.
  24. LOl no not the fish I was thinking of yikes! that is the exact reason the Mullets are JUST WRONG! lol Joe dirt eat your heart out
