  1. Are they the ones that look like mullet when fully grown? lol
  2. Fire mouths look nice too lol now it is going to take me ages to make a decision on what to get lol Really? the pics I have seen they don't look that spectacular. Will have to do some more research now
  3. Acaras are definately on my possible list. An Oscar appealed too but am not tooo sure lol
  4. They both look interesting, will have to read a bit more about them and see how they stack up, Thanks Wok No thanks lol Good to hear Ira, There was a gorgeous green severum in the LFS the other day, by the time we had decided what we wanted to do, went down and he was gone Snookie is trying, in a very subtle way to sell me his lol
  5. I got a 20cm-ish gold severum from snookie the other day ( great measurements snookie ) and we are now hooked on the idea of setting up a new tank for a few larger fish after just having small community fish for so long. "Zak" as he is now named is very calm and not showing any signs of aggression, he has wreaked havoc on my plants though lol What suggestions do you have on what we could put in with him, only wanted maybe 2 more similar sized fish. We like the idea of a Green Severum too but will they be aggressive towards each other? ANy suggestions appreciated
  6. I would proudly say that my guppies that are outside are breeding like.... well... guppies but they don't neede any encouragement  The fry are HUGE and they are still popping them out
  7. LOL a Baboon doing it's best Don King impersonation
  8. LOL flamin heck Mark, I actually fell for that, had to scroll back and look at the rhinos again

    Baby BN

YAY! :bounce: That is so cool, I am the same as you, I got an impressive looking male for my female and they have been together for the last 6 months of so and as they say "he is just not that in to her" lol SO there is hope for me yet
  11. I also recommend the siamese algae eater. I got one when I still had my smaller tank and he cleaned it up in no time at all, I have never seen any since I moved the fish to a bigger tank but I am not sure if that is because there is none or if the SAE is eating it before I see it lol They are also quite and entertaining fish to watch. They say that the younger ones eat algae better but mine is fully grown and he cleaned it up very quickly
  12. It arrived here in Whangarei between 6 and 7 last night, very strong winds and rain, not heavy rain though. I see the usual places further north are flooded etc. Just about to ring my grandmother in Kaeo where it always floods and check she is still situated up on top of the hill she lives on
  13. My pics are a bit small due to bigger versions taking forever to upload to PB, but you get the idea lol
  14. I have noticed that many of the members here are keen photographers so here is a thread to share those random shots of anything and everything *ahem* better keep it clean though lol Here a few of mine that I like at the moment
  15. Hi Rochelle I have bred Balloon Mollies, they are a little like guppies lol add water and you have an instant multiplication  A couple of females and 1 male and rescue the babies before the parents eat them.
  16. She could have any where from a few to 20ish, apparently more too but I don't think that is very common. If you leave them in with parents and other fish they will probably get eaten. A fry trap/net is a good idea or another tank if you have one. I have also just floated the fry in a container in the top of the tank until they got a little bigger, if doing this they need VERY frequent water changes though, like a couple a day You can feed them finely crushed up flake food or you can buy liquidfry (I think that is what it is called) which is a special food for fry. Also you can feed bbs (babybrine shrimp) Sorry I am not sure how long til you can tell the sex lol
  17. SOunds like he is making progress Donna Hope he perks up some more today

    can he say this?

LMFAO! I think it is hilarious
  19. People are trying to help you. getting agitated with those offering advice is not going to help your cause Perhaps the Anabantoids section would be a better place to have asked or the breeding area.
  20. Not a nice thing to have to do Kathie but in the long run it is not nice to let the fish suffer either. I find it very hard to euthanise a fish too, I usually get my partner to do it
  21. It is a bit tricky to slow the flow on the aqua one tanks. Is the water filled as high as it can go? That will create less of a splash as it goes in. I would suggest that the fighter will get use to it eventually, better that than kark it cos the tank is all out of kilter with a filter that is not cycled properly
  22. Mine bred, I got a good mixture of white and black, but the black ones were all weak, pathetic little things and died. I only ended up with 2 white ones left, one has a black spot on it's tail and the other is all white. Here is a pic of my female, a couple of days before she dropped her fry
  23. Will have to do pic tommorow, can't be bothered doing battle with photobucket
