  1. Vodafone!! Cherries or apricots?
  2. Welcome Blossom I too started with a AR380, about 15 months ago and I am now on tank 3 LOL the biggest being 200 litres and have fry coming out my ears, I am waiting for my next tank to be built for fire bellied newts. So be warned, not only to the fish multiply, so do the tanks and before you know it, there are other critters moving in too Thank goodness I have the helpful people here to ask all sorts of silly questions, they are very helpful and knowledgable
  3. They were so funny to watch, the 2 at the back were just sitting there waiting, if the front 1 moved, they followed. Eventually they got sick of playing follow the leader and the middle 1 veered off course
  4. I can't deal with flies lol they get me very agitated
  5. Thanks The monkeys were not feeling very photogenic the day we were there lol only wanted to show me the smelly end  I didn't know that the Reptile Park existed till last week, am so glad we made the trip though, I was surprised at the variety of reptiles/amphibians they had. Next on my list to visit is Living Art
  6. I have had to resort to putting a bottle of frozen water in the tank, I got home the other day and it was sitting at 32. I can lift the lid as we have one of those things for the flys and insects that releases a squirt every 7 mins or so and I am worried that it will poison the fish
  7. We trekked down the back roads from Whangarei to Ti Point last week and had a fantastic time checking out all the cool critters Ivan has there. Had a chat with Ivan and he let me handle a beardie, silly me, I was so excited that I didn't even think of getting some one to take a pic lol Here are some of the photos I took, hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them
  8. Lie down and look sleepy... The little buggars will be chirping away in no time
  9. I have some great photos that I will get around to posting in a day or 2. I thoroughly enjoyed myself today :D After holding the beardie I said.... I want one of these now lol got a terrible look from my partner
  10. Thanks for all the advice guys Saw about 8 Japanese fire bellied Newts at the reptile park today, they are sooooo cool! They were really active too, swimming about the whole time I was watching :bounce: The owner of the place even let me handle a beardie :bounce: :bounce: I would highly recommend a visit to The Reptile Park at Leigh, well worth the dodgy drive we took through the back roads lol My partner was not so keen on the back roads and I wasn't either once we began but was definately worth it in the end!
  11. :D That sounds SOOOOOO much easier than he made it sound :D Now to sort out some daphnia
  12. She must of just relisted them lol I had them on my watch list and they closed. Thanks. The guy at the pet shop made it sound really difficult to raise them from this stage..... How hard is it? What are the best options for feeding? housing etc? And how long does it take for them to morph/change? Sorry about the 50 questions but it is nicer to ask some one that actually knows rather than rely on information off the net or people that have never kept them etc In that last auction, some one had asked and they are chinese, which is the type I would prefer any way :bounce: YAY!! All is not lost. Going to check out the Reptile Park at Leigh tomorrow, even if they have none it looks like a cool place to visit
  13. I wish you were in the north island! I have just been out and about to the pet shops up here trying to see if they can order them in for me and the answer was a resounding NO! They are not on their lists. One place suggested talking to the reptile park at Leigh, so I have flicked them an email and am waiting for a reply *sigh* looks like I may have to change my plans
  14. Thanks Mystic There is not a lot of information on the net about them, just the same basic stuff every where I look so am finding it hard to find out lots about them before I make a decision
  15. The tank I am hoping to make their home is 370mm x 250mm x250mm, so perhaps I could get 1 in there or a pair? I haven't seen any in the LFS up here and I see some one has some listed on that auction site but will only sell in lots of 5! Hopefully my LFS can order some in for me
  16. Hi all I am considering getting a couple of fire bellied newts, I have an old tank here that I would like to turn in a happy home for them. But I am not sure if it is big enough.... What would be the smallest size you could keep them in? Are they social critters or would 1 on its own be happy? Just doing some research before I look at it any further. Any pearls of wisdom greatly appreciated Thanks Bedazzled
  17. Hi and welcome Gremlin There are a few of us here from Whangarei, I think most of us are addicted to fish though, not reptiles Although, I do love reptiles, just the price of them puts me off
  18. I have had the honey gouramis, they coloured up alot more after I got them home and fed them up lol, they vary from almost orange to pale yellow. I thought they were cool little fish but mine just seemed to drop dead for no apparent reason, I went through 3 all up and decided not to get any more.
  19. Well, just an update... It has been a week since I removed the Betta and there have been no more injuries. The danio is now fully recovered, she was VERY sick for a while there, from the symptoms I described to the LFS they thought she was showing signs of organ failure, I am so glad I stuck with it and she came right The harlequin rasbora and fine with only 1 eye, so all is well in my tank Thanks again for your help catfish

    My new Boy

Here are a few pics of my new male BN, I have been looking for a male for my female for ages, it is hard to get bigger BN up here. I am not too sure where he came from but when he came in my LFS held him for me. He was riddled with white spot but I bought him home and nursed him back to health and he is looking great. I added him to my community tank this morning and he has settled in very nicely and has been "flirting" with the female already lol His name is JUNGLE lol
  21. Just had to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed reading about your hunt for a koura and your tank looks fab. Hope your Koura are very happy in there
  22. Hi, thanks again for your reply The betta spent 1 night in "time out" and I took him back to my LFS. There has been no more problems so I am pretty sure it was him. All the other fish seem happier since he has gone too. The fish with the missing eye is doing well, showing no signs that he even knows he is missing an eye lol The leopard danio is still pretty unwell and I am not sure if she will survive. I put in some tonic salt and saw a slight improvement from yesterday to today so hopfully she will come right. I am also quite sure my SAE is a real SAE, I did quite a bit of research and hunting before buying one as others gave me info about the flying foxes etc. Thanks for your help catfish
