  1. Sounds good, just have to wait till we move (not long now!). Looking forward to setting it up
  2. How would you cycle the tank? I was thinking of maybe getting the filter, saltwalter from the sea and coral sand from jansens, placing it in the tank and putting in some shrimps / things from rockpools. Would this work? I would be using tap water + salt for water changes after this so would this effect the bacteria? How did you cycle your tank alisha? Cheers!
  3. Ah that was my other question For water changes and first filling up the tank, do you take it from the sea or make salt water yourself? I think I read on the seahorse farm site that they can supply the stuff that makes seawater. Cheers
  4. $6.00 for a skimmer?!!? Cheers for the info. I think I will get a bigger tank and try then. Maybe a 4-5ft tank. I have seen coral sand for sale at jansens. I think it's about $18. When you order the seahorses, can you choose females/males or is it random? How do you tell the difference in the gender? Cheers.
  5. Auckland Zoo has AFC .. they look cool eh !
  6. Thanks alisha. How big is your tank? I was looking at getting 4-5 seahorses. Do you have anything else in the tank with them? Where'd you get the sand from? How many times a day do you feed them? Cheers, Chris.
  7. Here's some bad quality photos of my recent BN Approx. 14-15 cm long. Approx. 15-17 cm long
  8. Not yet Pies, but I am definitely setting up a 'cold water' one when we move. The thing I forgot to ask was, on the site it says to use a Cannister filter and there's no mention of a skimmer. So would it be all sweet if I just used a CF? Alisha - how do you aerate the tank? Cheers!
  9. She lives in Orere (sp) Point near Kawakawa Bay. Not sure if it's a WTF area though?
  10. Thanks for the site Alisha. Have you tried to breed your seahorses? How much do they charge for a seahorse? Cheers
  11. I don't think they are too serious about getting rid of them as afaik they don't harm native species as they live in totally different areas. Alan - my aunties farm has 3 ponds with thousands of tadpoles, if you want I can get you heaps closer to nov/dec, but I can't gurantee they will be whistling tree frogs..

  18. It would be cool to have a pond with catfish in it .. but I wouldn't have a black one otherwise you wouldn't see them very well.
  19. Doesn't the plywood soak the water up ._<?
  20. No, he means this one: 8' Tank There's also a 6ft: 6' Tank
  21. You could divide that tank in 2 and make 2 breeding tanks from it but make sure you have big tanks for the babies to grow out.
