    Stringy poos

This quote is from Simply Dicus .com. It has a different protocol!!! The recommended treatment for Hexamita / Spironucleus is metronidazole (Flagyl). Metronidazole can be administered in a bath at a concentration of 5 mg/L (18.9 mg/gallon) every other day for three treatments. Medicated feed is even more effective at a dosage of 50 mg/kg body weight (or 10 mg/gm food) for five consecutive days. See also IFAS Fact Sheet VM-67 , Management of Hexamita in Ornamental Cichlids .

    Stringy poos

<<< * A 30% water change prior to dosing * A temperature of 30oC * 250mg of metronidazole / 10gallons of aquarium water. * After 8 hours 25% water change is performed followed by another 250mg of metronidazole / 10gallons of aquarium water. * This cycle is repeated for three days * Note: mortar and pestle the tablet/s, add a drop of warm aquarium water and mix to thick paste; keep adding drops until you have a thinner paste; – you can then add more water, mix thoroughly and spread over the aquarium.>>> Can someone clarify the description in the above article on metro? He suggests dosing the tank and leaving it for 8 hours. Doing a water change and then dosing again. Is this left in the tank for another 8 hours with another water change after that? He says to repeat this cycle for three days. Does that mean dosing 9 times over three days or just twice a day leaving a gap of 8 hours between each set of two doses? That's one hell of a lot of metro!

  4. Am I missing something here or do you mean for a 200 litre tank I would need 1 200 mg tab and not 10?

    Combatable?

Thanks all for the advice and help...I brought home a wonderful Sunshine peacock (not sure of the latin name yet...will need to post a pic i think) and a jacobfreybergi (still small) and a small red zebra female. They are pretty special fish.
  10. I can highly recommend the peacocks with electric yellows. They are spectacular fish and i have been fortunate to procure an absolute beauty, already at about 10cms long. The colours are pretty special and a great personality... Also better to buy off fish keepers rather than the shops both for price and advice. Hehehe I was almost sold a Kango as a peacock the other day at a lfs!!! phew Thanks ryanjury for the idea and advice and good luck fish and chips with your decisions.

    Combatable?

I am just in the process of reducing the tanks I have because of the problems keeping them warm over winter and just that a few larger are easier than several small for me! So I dont want to get lots of fish and grow them up...I had to do that with the kribs and now have three breeding pairs with a handful of young in each tank that have survived. Still trying to pass them on....

    Combatable?

I think I may go for some peacocks. Is it important to have both males and females? If I got 1 male and 3 female?I assume one needs to get matching species to stop cross breeding?
  15. Well I must admit that at least the golden balloons look quite different from the originals but these actually look quite strange to me as they are all the right colours but completely the wrong shapes...
  16. Does the se cond have orange trumpets then it could be campsis or as the leaves look almost the same does it have a white flower or a blood red flower. The red flower could be a mexican blood vine (?) and the white flower could be another form of pandorea. I think you will find that they are both pandorea...
  17. It is pandorea jasminoides or the bower plant from Australia

    Combatable?

Would a Aequidens pulcher Cichlid (blue acara), Firemouth Cichlid - Thorichthys meeki and a Keyhole Cichlid - Cleithracara maronii, either single or in pairs or male /female or male/male be ok in with electric yellows Labidochromis caeruleus. I know that it is mixing new world with malawis but does it work and what combinations?
